Old Republic is now canon again. It technically already was, but not specifically the games.

Let's see what new features they add. Microtransactions. Pre-order DLC.

Eagle vision. Cinematic walking. 20 minute mocap cutscenes. Preorder light-sabers. Cute robot preorder.

KOTOR kinda always had crappy gameplay. It was mainly the childish twist people remember.

No thanks on this port. Probably over priced too.

For all its intended purpose, Darth Raven's legacy was feature in Rise of Skywalker so technically Knights of the Old Republic was always canon due to the game taking place 4000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire...in a way, I always believe the current Star War timeline is set in 8000 year.

Knights of the Old Republic Remake was always tease and EA told us this last year this was going to be a thing, so no surprise as I too want this to happen and its not everyday we get a Star Wars game that has nothing to do with the Empire and it's one of the reasons why Knights of the Old Republic became this popular. But what I find interesting is the fact this is PS5 timely excusive this time around since the original game never came to PS2.

So Aspyr is making this remake? Usually they only do ports so I hope they know what they're doing. It would be cool to see Obsidian do a new KOTOR one day. But anyways I'm happy that EA and Bioware aren't involved with this.

Remake only, not port. The original game is 18 years old that happens to be in 6th gen.

@davillain-: Very based Clone Wars kept it canon. Along with a ton of other stuff Disney scrapped. Even made Republic Commandos a main plot point in the inferior (but still pretty decent) Bad Batch series. From the jist of it as well, they are going to redo Heir To The Empire in some form.

Disney softly has tried to replace it with "High Republic", but either for good or bad reasons, it's getting shat on. A lot of it weirdo right-wingers. Along of it disgruntled "Legends" fans.

TBH was never big on KOTOR 1, always preferred 2. Both games are far from perfect. Like, they ain't no Jedi Knight, but the character stuff and whats it's doing in KOTOR 2 is at least better than the Holiday Special.

@uninspiredcup: Very true and I agree about KOTOR 2 Sith Lords. That game had more content and force powers as well. Just wish part 2 would get the same treatment.

KotOR is one of the greatest games of all time. I'm not even a big Star Wars fan.

They'll probably screw it up and turn it into a hack n' slash game like FFVII remake.

I can't shake the feeling that they are going to ruin this game somehow. I'm skeptical that it's not going to be a refined version of the old combat systems & dialogue depth..., but just end being some cinematic hack-n-slash game or something... I hope that I'm wrong.

Not a Star Wars fan - in fact generally speaking Disney has become a depository for stuff I don't care for - but I did enjoyed KotOR back then.

Casey already melting cuz its not on his little Switch that wouldn't even be able to handle 1 character on screen.

I thought KotOR sucked back in the day, and have no interest in playing a remake of it.

@vfighter: It wasn't great. Neither was KOTOR 2' and that's one of my fav piece of Starwars media. Basically the writing that holds that up, not it's combat, level design etc..

Guessing a lot of people who praise this game has nostalgia goggles on or simply haven't played other Starwars games.

Which makes sense, at the time Bioware was hot shit. `Similar games like Baldur's Gate or Planescape Torment were an alien concept to console media.

And even if we're just going purely by Starwars games, titles like Jedi Knight, Xwing series etc... PC only.

Something like Dark Forces II or X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, yea say those are leagues better if measured purely from a gameplay perspective. They hold up.

Of course this is just an opinion.

Don't want to jump the gun either and start gushing at this, the remake could well be inferior with lots of modern "expectations". Could legit be a pile of shit.

So, wait and see. A flashy trailer can easily hide incoming mediocrity.
