I can understand why the selling price for this game is 50euro.It is a very good 2D game for the Wii but it is not a Mario Galaxy 2.I have pay 60euro for the AC2 on 360,i have pay 50euro for the Metroid Prime Trilogy and it is worth all the money i have pay for that....3 Prime games in 1.But why NSMB Wii worth 50euro...??The game is just overprized, maybe 30euro,but no....no 50euro.:?

I have just find U2 for the PS3 for 55euro.Why not buy U2 for 55euro and buy NSMB for 50euro....?I think Nintendo just want to milk the cows.

It's not Nintendo's fault you spent all your money on other games, new games come out and they always cost this much, why would this be any different.

And how does that matter AT ALL? I don't know when you started gaming, but I hope you do realise the 2D Marios were always better than the 3D ones.

Gotta love this mentality. Im actually glad there are retail 2D games coming out, its nice to see a resurgence of them when, for the last two generations, they were considered dead. 2D games are often better than 3D ones, and are worth the asking price.

Metroid trilogy is an awesome game and is the best game this gen imo. but NSMB is also a great game and is much better then most games this year.

So, videogame prices go up according to how many dimensions are being represented in the screen?

I fear the future...

-4D games to be $200

-3D games downloadable only

-2D games come free in your Count Chocula cereals

You paid £45 for NSMB, you must've brought that game from a store, since only a store would sell it at the price, you should buy your games off Amazon or something, since you will get your game for alot cheaper.

I fail to see why its not worth 50 euro... Is the TC trying to say if a game is not 3D then it shouldn't be sold a normail retail price?

I have been told I can get NSMB Wii for £32 in HMV.

That doesn't sound too bad imo.

The less dimensions the more hardcore a game becomes.

3D: Mainstream

2D: Hardcore

1D: Ultra Hardcore

Bit.Trip.Beat is pretty much a 1d game.

So 2-D games should cost less than 3-D games even though some 2-D titles are much longer and offer more value than some 3-D games in the market?! :?

What makes 2D so "simple" and how the hell does that have anything to do with "value", or the actual quality of the product?

Its the best Mario game since Super Mario World in my opinion.

Its not an easy short game either. Well worth what i paid for it.

Imo I was more disappointed with Mario Galaxy.

Mario has never really worked for me in 3D. I don't want to spend every level collecting many stars or whatever, it seems pointless to me.

In terms of quality NSMB Wii is really lacking and I wouldn't waste my money on it. Multiplayer isn't as great as some thought it would be and the level design isn't as intricate as the original NSMB for the DS or, say, Super Mario World.

Galaxy gave me 75 hours of gameplay total, I have finished it three times, and I am willing to bet New Super Mario Bros. Wii will give me more than that due to the multiplayer mode. So yeah, I would say it does offer more value than Galaxy.

Well I guess you could make a valid argument here that a 2d game generally costs much less to develop than a 3d one.

I actually agree with the TC, new super mario should be cheaper than normal games as it doesnt cost that much to develop.

Why not?

The Super Mario Galaxy is the best looking game on the Wii.It is a 3D mario game not just a simply 2D mario game.

What's the core issue here? Having the third dimension at all, or the more playful presentation instead of the epic direction taken by Galaxy?

The core issue here is that, in comparison to NSMB, Galaxy is slow and lax. The fast, pixel-perfect twitch platforming simply cannot be done anywhere near as well in 3d (hence why NSMB lacks online, as well. The lag would kill it.), where measuring accurate jumps is far, far harder than in 2d. This added speed and accuracy also allows the stages to be far more busy than those in Galaxy. Making the game in 2d isn't laziness, it is a deliberate design choice for offering a different kind of gameplay.

Also, NSMB's core idea is simply having fun with friends, so the grand orchestration and space themes would probably feel a bit out of place amidst the chaos of a 4-man Mario session. Therefore, a more playful art direction and musical score that suit the chaos better.

It doesn't matter if the game cost more or less than Galaxy or Kameo to make, what you need to ask yourself is: Will I have as much fun playing this as I had playing Galaxy, and/or will that fun last as long or longer than Galaxy. If one or both responses are yes, then in all likelihood the game is worth it's price.

Good for you. It's just that, since you took the time to make a new thread about it, I expected a far better argument than "2D is overpriced IMO".

I for one completely agree. I'm not against 2D Mario games but seeing as it's pratically the DS version with added content, difficulty and graphical enhancements. I'd pay 40$ max for that game.

Also how ironic is it? I mean here in Canada games that costed 60$ like GTAIV are now 30 - 40$ while Twilight Princess no doubt being a great game is still priced at 59.99$:|

Panosola

If you ask me, all games these days are overpriced. It's been that way since they all seemed to arbitrarily jump up $10. But if you are looking for examples of overpriced games...there are TONS of better examples than New Mario.

Yeah, i agree, SFIV was also a ripoff because you know 2D, and what about Blazblue, men that was milking, it even uses sprites OMG what a crime, in fact, they should ban every 2D game, how devs dare to make use such and old technology.

I was actually pretty disappointed with NSMB Wii. I'm glad I did't waste my money on it.

Why pay $50 for a Wii game when you can pay $60 for a PS3/360 game?
