Hardware is down 8% y/y. So I'm guessing no one's happy thus the lack of tweets and PR from the big three.

If they really release no numbers then it's Pachter to the rescue, or nothing.

And we'll simply need to wait 3 months for quarterly reports.

Yeah, that sucks. Kids in America these days. They'd rather dance or exercise. They just can't see the true sense of fulfillment that comes with smashing a barrel over the face of oversized vermin or a tiki monster.

It's easier to top the all platforms chart when the game's on 5 platforms.

I imagine the top selling SKU is actually Just Dance 2, and those other dance games are also potentially higher in single SKU charts.

Microsoft is up:

[quote="MS"]Riding the momentum of its biggest year ever, Xbox 360 continued to drive strong console and software sales in the first month of the new year. Sustained consumer demand for Kinect helped propel Xbox 360 as the top selling console in January.

January NPD highlights include:
· Xbox 360 sold 381,000 units in January, up 48,000 units year-over-year. (Source: NPD Group, January 2011)

· Xbox 360 is the only console platform to show year-over-year growth in January at 15 percent. (Source: NPD Group, January 2011)

· Total retail spend on Xbox 360 topped $551 million, making it the top selling console platform for the 10th month in a row. (Source: NPD Group, January 2011)

· During the month of January, four of the top ten console game titles were for Xbox 360 including: "Call of Duty: Black Ops," "Dead Space 2,""Dance Central," and "Kinect Sports." (Source: NPD Group, January 2011)

Some lingering supply constraints coupled with high consumer demand led to continued pockets of shortages at retail. Microsoft anticipates this trend to improve through February, but will continue to work with retail and manufacturing partners to expedite production and shipments.Slashkice

Those are outstanding numbers for the month following the holidays.

You're kidding yourself if you think a year old game for full retail price is going to chart in the PS3's weakest region. I'd be relatively surprised if it sold more than like 50K.

XboximusPrime

They're just placeholders, based on Jan NPD 2010.

The 360 PR states that only the 360 is up Y/Y, so all others must be less than their Jan 2010 numbers.

Wouldn't be surprised if it didn't sell that well. I mean, why buy the worst version of a game for a console that doesn't even get the first game? If a PS3 is all you have, then fine. Otherwise, why buy it for PS3? Trophies? lol

Why is it the worse version again? Far as I can tell from comparisons they were super close.

If we compare with Media Create, the PS3 almost covers the North American gap wit the 360. Add to that the rest of the world numbers and I would not be surprised if the PS3 was ahead again.

Sony released a PR, but doesn't say much. Just pimping software:

Slashkice

I'm expecting somewhere along the lines of 230-250K PS3 and probably around 350-370K Wii.

There'll be a price cut if Sony expects to meet it's full year forecast I imagine.

Negligibly inferior in regards to performance and graphics, and it's more money.

Yeah, sounds about right. At this rate though, I don't see 'em reaching there 15m goal unless they have something up their sleeve.

Hasn't been a price drop in a long time, so it's probably time for a price drop -- even if it's only $50.
