[QUOTE="d_black"] [QUOTE="hiho24"]Nintendo was the only company at e3 who actually acted like a company. Since when was being humble and passive good in a competitive market?hiho24
Sony's huge ego hurt them and they know it. This time it was them who thanked the crowd as opposed to acting like they did the crowd a favor. I agree a business should be confident but there is a limit, take 5minutes out and show off your sales but please don't feed me crap videos of people hugging nintendo Wii's - its laughable.
The Wii is neat and I don't like its a fad but the lack of games is clear because there was too much talk about sales, age groups playing, gender rules & general random videos of ego boosting.
I was pleased to see Nintendo taking online seriously, its a step forward for the company.
You have to notice the difference in ego and confidence. Nintendo has found a new market and the videos they showed were only backing their confidence. Not only did people but it, but the DS and Wii have become a phenomenon. The worst thing Nintendo could have done was brought a "humble" show for the press. One that played it safe and respected the hardcore. Talk about mixed signals, they dont wanna hear that, they wanna see things like Sales numbers and the popularity, they want to see things like Wii Fit that will continue to drive the popularity. They're basically saying "Hey we're popular, successful and will continue to do so with games like Wii Fit." It shows an amount of confidence that the media can go out with the same attitude.
I do understand your point but I think we will have to agree to disagree. Nintendo to me are trying to phase out the hardcore market and instead just have a collective market where you and I are buying the same games that grand parents and kids are buying.
I want games that are deep and complex and take weeks to master. This "collective market" that Nintndo is creating is working and it shows through the sales. Well, that and competitive pricing. Things like Wii Fit are just terrible. We have gyms and we can use them if we choose. Yes, that costs more but its money better spent.
