Nintendo DS 2 Announced?!?!?!?!?

Massive rumour leaks started earlier this afternoon after bsm posted an article claiming that the nVidia Tegra chip would power the next gen Nintendo DS, thus placing it above the original Xbox both graphically and specs wise.

Since then, there've been more leaks, and the information that I could gather states:

1. Backwards compatible with the existing DS models (no GBA slot)
2. Multimedia capability
3. Bluetooth?
4. Will be announced in late 2010... possibly at the Tokyo Game Show or Nintendo SpaceWorld
5. Early 2011 release worldwide

If this is indeed true, then Apple and Sony can really kiss their market shares goodbye. In particular, Sony, which has fumbled into a market disaster with the PSP Go, can very well expect its market share to reduce, and drastically.

Think about it guys... DS quality games with Xbox quality graphics... are you on board???

same specs as the first xbox? well i can totally see some awesome zelda games and metroid games with that power....maybe launch it with super mario sunshine DS (or whatever it's called)

maybe we can get a TRUE sequel to the WW sine it'll have more power now....not what PH was, it was a good game, just not anything like WW

I'm not too fond if DS games. They're too often sprite based, and sprites annoy me.

Although, i'd love to play a somewhat "Next Gen" Pokemon.

The only game i can stomach that is spirte based is Disgaea.

You're wrong, but either way it's irrelevant when i started gaming. The DS simply dose not allow for high quality sprites due to lackluster hardware.

Sprites inherently have little animation. Using the popular pokemon as an example, The pokemon wiggle when they're released, and then wiggle slightly every attack they make.

Poor quality.

Look at Conkers bad fur day, and Doom 3. Not to mention Riddick and Halo 2.

Brawl is one of the best looking Wii games, and i think trumpts anythign the Xbox ahs to offer ... but not by much. That's where the 0.5 comes into play.

Whatever the actual difference is, it's not 10x.

you know that 8-10x more would make it as powerful if not more powerful than the 360 and the PS3 correct?

The xbox was a pent 3 based processor w 800Mhz and a Nvidia Geforce3 spec gpu which was around 2x more powerful than the cube.Also afaik the clock speed of the wii is pegged at around 8-900Mhz so you just got owned in that department.

oh and those metroid and doom screens look on par with eachother TBQH.

metoid has more stuff going on in the backgroundand doom has better lighting.

That's just what people said when there were similar rumours for the original DS, back when the GB Micro had just released. And the GBA was so succesful, didnt they just kill it off only to start an all new line of handhelds? charizard1605

Nintendo should worry about their next gen console funding rather than spending tons of millions for a handheld like that.

I mean they can't approach next-gen the same as they did this gen.

Their technology should be in the same league as Sony and Microsoft next-gen, even if it is the least advanced system, it should be More powerful than a PS3/360, much more powerful.

The motion controllers will be standards next-gen so they don't have any new trick, making an outdated console again will hurt them alot.

I mean what will they do next? a portable console?
