It's now going to officially support PS4 and X1. You can watch the video on Twitch

Epic Games released the latest update to their Unreal Engine 4, which will now support Xbox One and PS4, including Sony’s Morpheus VR.

With the release of update 4.1, all subscribers who are registered Xbox or PlayStation developers, including members of the ID@Xbox independent developer program, can receive access to the engine’s complete source code for their respective console platforms, at no extra cost.

Epic will also hold a Twitch TV livestream further detailing the new update, which will go live starting at 2pm EST.

Wasn't it compatible with mobile operating systems first? Not a big deal, just trivia for fun.

And I have little to no faith in Sony's VR headset. The PS4 doesn't have the horsepower to do anything with it, and Sony's recent peripheral track record is... bad.

Yeah its not going to catch up with Unity in terms of support..Even my school is dropping UDK .I still see they are ignoring the Wii U while giving support to mobile.

In talking to one of the industry leading developers, I heard the PS4's architecture couldn't optimize the UR4 Engine, but the X1 should have no issues since Microsoft took the high road. The Cell 1 held the PS3 back for years,, and it looks like Sony made the same mistakes again. They should have tweaked the issues with the Cell and created the powerful Cell 2.

@musicalmac: According to the previews it looked amazing. Not sure how it doesn't have the horsepower when 95% of its games are in 1080p

@musicalmac: The PS4 doesn't have to horsepower to run VR at decent resolutions.

Hell, some graphical intense games on it that are coming out are sub HD.

I know it. Which is why I have such little faith in it.
