Problem is that DVD/Bluray prices for anime are so high in Japan that only hardcore otaku will buy them. So the hardcore otaku make most of the (bad) trends we see in current anime. If the whole anime industry wasn't so messed up I would like to believe we would see less moe.

I think a lot of the creators of these new anime don't socialize or get around much.

An anime like Monster or Master Keaton shows lots of dedication to characters.

The creator had to research the culture and he even drew the characters with enough detail that you can pick out what ethnicity each person is.

Yah manga do not have to follow the strict regulations on anime to get a pass.

I am currently keeping up with Vinland Saga and Historie both are pretty good.

there's always something seinen or psychological airing every season, so by the end of the year there is bound to be a couple great titles. I don't mind the moe though, and I do watch pretty much everything airing. 

Also on topic, I wonder how they will handle relationship endings...will it be like the PSP games?
