such a nice selection of hd movies on xbl, you rent it for the same price as you would a blockbuster or cable papperview, in my oppinion this beats having to buy a blueray player and then buying movies, or even renting movies. its like an ondemand service but with hd content, its a miracle for people who dont have or can get cable or on demand services. You order a movie, it buffers the download for about 10 mins and then you can start watching, all in widescreen hd

yes.....I love waiting hours for a movie to get downloaded.

I love the fact that there is a possibility the download will get ***** up.

I love paying 2-3 to watch a movie for 1 day, with no special features.

Hard disc copy FTW

Oh...and I love paying $180 for an overpriced, and undersized (for the price) Hard drive.

Um...  First of all, you don't have to wait an hour, let alone hours.  Secondly, I do it on the 20 gig HD all the time.  Third...  Hey, get hard copies all you want.  I just like being saved the trip sometimes.

Please tell me you aren't serious. Link me one HD movie torrent file and I will retract my statement that you are incompetent. The HD movies from XBL are HD, not a compressed 750 MB file or even a compressed 4.87 GB (down from DL 8.5 GB) or even a compressed 8.5 GB file, down from uncompressed HD files. So please, stop saying the things you illegally dl off the internet are better than those that are legal and real.

Yes, that is why it is worth it. You can watch them without purchasing the HDDVD addon (for those of us waiting for a BlueRay/HDDVD multidrive)

And you'll also get arrested for watching low quality movies instead of paying the $8.00 to watch it in the theaters or $4.00 to rent the movie.

I doubt it. You're still paying them your money to download their stupid movies. I've been doing it for the past six months without any problems.

The movies that you download are no where near the quality of when you buy it and if you are downloading it and it takes up a whole 44.05 gb you may get the same quality but that really eats into harddrive space.

Interesting.  After watching an hearing Blu-ray and HDVD, I found myself saying "So this is what all the fuss is about?  How underwhelming..."

By the way, when's your paycheque from Sony arrive?  I could recommend some good Blu-ray releases for you to pick up.

A) PM me the links

B) Link a pict of your Blue Ray burner so I can see how you plan on watching those on a HDTV (and don't link your tv hooked up to a 50 inch HDTV unless you plan on backing up the fact that HDTVs cant display HD images from a computer source).

such a nice selection of hd movies on xbl, you rent it for the same price as you would a blockbuster or cable papperview, in my oppinion this beats having to buy a blueray player and then buying movies, or even renting movies. its like an ondemand service but with hd content, its a miracle for people who dont have or can get cable or on demand services. You order a movie, it buffers the download for about 10 mins and then you can start watching, all in widescreen hd

Whats so cool about that? I dl free dvd rips of movies in the theaters for free.

Noob!!!!

Casino Royale - Blu Ray - 44.05gb

Xmen 3 - Blu Ray - 23.56gb

Terminator 2 - Blu Ray - 22.78gb

I could go on but I wont

I could also link but I feel that the powers that be wouldnt be amused....on both sites :-P

The movies that you download are no where near the quality of when you buy it and if you are downloading it and it takes up a whole 44.05 gb you may get the same quality but that really eats into harddrive space.

why do people who never downloaded nor seen any of the HD shows/movies talk so much trash.  Thats why SW will never get pass idiots posting dumb @#$#.

The movies/tv shows are in HD period !!!!

download is fast (why?, don't know)

If everybody here are so called true gamers, they would make sure to verify before they talk.  If you don't own the console you are scolding at the time, then go to a friend who does, so your opinion will have more substance.

And yes  ......  you can enjoy HD games, TV shows, and Movies straight out the box !

Oh wow, you better stop now, bud. You do know what HD/DVD and Blu-Ray are right? They are simply a larger medium to carry all that uncompressed data. The only reason you would need a Blu-Ray player would be to play those discs, not the movies they carry. And HDMI is largely a copy-protection scheme, nothing more.

Wow people are really hostile about this. I love watching Blu-Ray but not enough to defend it against a bunch of rabid fanboys. I also utilize the XBOX Movie download it's great if I don't want to go to the videostore. The Blu_Rays do 1080p which the download movies do not so quality wise yes Blu Ray FTW for my needs at least.

You are serioulsy clueless they are a larger medium to store movies in 1080p that is simply not possible on a DVD-9 you cant hold 2 hours worth of film in 1080p quality no matter how you compress it the max a DVD can hold on 9gb is about 3 hours worth of film in 480p quality.  And no HDMI isnt just copyright protection that is some of the purpose yes it also devlievers superior video and audio quality over VGA or component cables so stop acting like everything is a gimmick .

won't this hurt sales of HDDVD, I suppose their sales aren't doing so well but won't this just make it worse. This is much more of a fan service on MS part. Maybe they believe once you pay 2-3 dollars for a HD movie you'll be more willing to pay 20-30 dollars for a hard copy of a HDDVD. I'd really like to know whats their strategy.

When did I mention DVD? I said I could download them on my PC just fine because it's just data. It's just more data than a DVD can handle, hence the HD-DVD/BluRay discs. HDMI does offer a very slight upgrade in video quality, but it's not even noticeable on monitors under 40-50 inches. It's real purpose is HDCP, the new copy-protection scheme. Corporate media publishers are wanting to get rid of the "analog hole". Which is fine by me, really. I like how HDMI puts audio and video in one cable, and I don't pirate, so it's all good. But the way some people think it's this huge revolution in A/V is laughable.

Are the movies of HD-DVD or Blu-Ray quality?-EFG-

Just so you know there is no difference w/ hd or blu ray.

What matters is the type of transfer they used, MPEG 4 or VC-1 (which all hd movies use). Bluray films use MPEG4 and some studios are starting to switch to the higher quality VC-1.

The difference with hd dvd/ bluray is the amount of space the dics can hold, and that is changing quickly.

As for the quality of the HD download, it is a great high definition and dolby digital download (in some cases better than the hd movies from HBO, Showtime stars etc from the cable providers.

If I'm so clueless, why don't you enlighten me, friend? Everything I've said is true. If you can dispute my claim, then do so. Otherwise I suggest you move on and go play your mediocre FPS.

No but you were defending the hermit who says" I can just get teh downloaded hd movie on teh pc" Fact is you can do that and its still not going to be quite the same quality as BR or HD-DVD and its going to take up a ton of Harddrive space.  No BR isnt a revolution but is a nice peace of technology and I think it will work well for games as time goes on.
