Miyamoto all the way.

Only a total noob who began gaming in 96 would say otherwise.

Ralph Baer

If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't even have had consoles.

And anyone who mentioned Bushnell or Baer is the same obviously. Steve Russell fans are as well.

In terms of the industry in general, i would say Ralph Baer. But for the games, its gotta be miyamoto.

To be honest, I think Ralph Baers contribution is overstated. I don't think that without him there wouldn't be consoles.

Computer Space beat the Odyssey to claim the title of the worlds first commercially produced video game. Nolan Bushnell might have witnessed a display of the Odyssey, but it was Al Alcorn who created Pong, initially as a practice run for the driving game Bushnell wanted to make. However, Alcorn managed to outdo Bushnells expectations, and came up with the simple, fun game that would succeed where Computer Space failed.

If Miyamoto never existed, there wouldnt have been much of an effect toVideo game history.

Just because you like his games hardly means hes influential or important.

John carmack has done a hell of a lot more for the entire video game industry than Miyamoto could ever. I'd love if anyone could prove me otherwise.

I'm gonna have to agree with the topic creator, Shigeru miyamoto is definitely the most influencial person in gaming history. He has created some of the most recognised faces in gaming, I mean Mario is probably more recognised then Mickey Mouse !

But if it wasn't for Ralph Bear making a Pre Pong-like game before, Al Alcorn wouldn't have had the idea for PONG in the first place. Infact, PONG is a simplified version of Bears game and Magnavox sued them for patent infringement.

[QUOTE="gamernaz"]This is good topic to expand to more historic figures.

When people think of the most historic videogame characters usually a good number of them will be ninendo characters. Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, DK, Samus ect.

Then comes the more present characters. Solid Snake, Master Chief, Marcus Fenix, Kratos, Joanna Dark, ect.

The bad thing is that some gamers dont even know the creators or at least where they came from.

Miyomato, Hideo Kojima are two of this industries recognized names.

Even people we hate or create controversy have changed the gaming world.

Ken Kutaragi.

Making 3d gaming sucessful and a industries standard.

Microsoft, showing the blue print on online gaming for consoles.

All game creators deserve credit for what they have done.

Without them, where would the industry be?
