There were leaks cos of the document leak a while ago that MHR was coming to PC, and lo and behold, Capcom actually announced it now.

Switch will definitely hold the portability crown on this, but at least most MH fans won't need the switch for this. 2022 release window, tho.

“We received a lot of requests for a PC version of Monster Hunter Rise, particularly from overseas players, and so we have decided to develop a version for PC, which we aim to release in early 2022,” said Tsujimoto. “This is still under development, so I’d like to share more detailed information when the time is right.”

What sets this apart from mainline Monster Hunter games?

Besides being downgraded for Switch?

@R4gn4r0k: I actually don't know. Here's what google gave me, but I don't think that's worth it to segment the playerbase or another 60 bucks.

@R4gn4r0k: This one has a grapple system that allows you to swing around the map, and ridable companions.

Monster Hunter has been a handheld series for the longest time, World is the odd one out, so Rise is more like the mainline

How is it odd when the series started on PS2 and various main releases is available on consoles like Wii/Wii U (MHTri/Tri U), Switch (MHGU) and PS3 (MHPortable 3rd)?

@howmakewood: Yup, my first foray into this franchise was on the good old PSP.

I’m just genuinly curious what sets it apart. I added the last part to make it more SW related :p

Makes sense. MHW sold really well on Steam, and the current concurrent players are still decent 2 1/2 years later, despite not really being a live service game. I'm sure Nintendo paid handsomely for the exclusivity rights, but the current industry economics being what it is, I'm sure Capcom pushed back and settled for timed exclusivity instead. Not that it's out of character for Capcom - as I'm sure the Resident Evil 4-shaped wound in Nintendo's back can attest.

Got MHW sitting in my own library. Unfortunately, lack of spare time to dedicate to it in the past means it's been languishing there until I moved on to other things. But with this franchise back in headlines and now that I have more spare time I'm currently doing nothing with except to dabble in HOMM V, I think I might reinstall.

I hope they upgrade the graphics for PC and don't just give us Switch assets.

Still gonna get if for the Switch since my friend is doing it, and these games are really great to play with friends, probably will double dip for it on PC, I do wonder if the requirements for the PC version will be lower that those of World.

Awesome!! Already have a 4 day weekend lined up for the launch of Rise. I fully anticipate cross-saves to be able to go back and forth between portable and PC.

Honestly the RE Engine on PC is one of the best out there right now. Monster Hunter World looks incredible on a high end rig. My jaw still drops at some of the turf wars. Having high end PC and portable options to go back and forth on.... THIS IS THE WAY

It's great that people have more options. Still getting it for Switch, personally, as I will never have any interest to play on PC.
