In the light of resident evil 5 coming out, the location of the game has changed into a somalia esk looking area, changing all the locals to african american . Some people are finding this racist as all you do is kill African american ZOMBIES. My opinion is that it isn't racist because A) how many white people do we kill in video games, B)How much genocide do we commit, you know how many germans and russian's i've killed. and C) Also i've killed alot of Middle eastern people. But apparently people don't find killing middle eastern people racist? D) their freaking zombies! and plus the japanese have a whole different take on racism than we do

Just a note. The setting is unknown, but speculated to be either in Africa, or somewhere like Haiti. Assuming it is in Africa, as you seem to be doing, since you descibed it as a 'Somalia-esque looking area,' then the locals would not be African Americans. They would just be Africans. I'm totally in agreement about the 'RE5 is racist' comments being stupid, but it just kills me when people call all black people, regardless of country of origin, African American. You wouldn't call a Japanese man, born and living in Japan, Asian American would you?

I'm black and I don't find RE5 racist what so ever, its silly to think that it is. Many blacks while being physically free are still slaves in their own mind that holds on to concepts such as everyone is against blacks etc. I can go into a big discussion about this but I won't. But consider how RE5 is essensially the same except that its killing Spainards. No problems there huh?

The world is full of double standards. I don't care if I'm killing Black, white, Asian, Germain or Middle Eastern people as long as the game is fun. Especially if they're Zombies, then they're no longer considered human.

Yes there were, but for it to be ok to "them" there needs to be other races that are being killed. Unless from their perspective everything is against blacks and its racist. Or there needs to be a black hero killing the zombies. Like I said in my prior post, its because a white person killing a black or blacks invokes a negative aspect within themselves because they remain shackled to slavery in their own minds.
Racism is still alive and well sadly. It won't end by side stepping the issue. It's perpetuated by the comedy business. It's handed down from generation. It's even encouraged in public institutions.
The best thing that could happen for racism is for people to stop making it an issue. It won't die unless we don't let it exist. This includes disbanding affirmative action. I don't care what people say about, I've seen it in action and it's nothing more than racism with a different name. It only encourages people to play the race card and makes race an even more sensative subject.
P.S. I'm white. I live in a rural area in the South. I'm not racist. I've been on the recieving end of racism. Its a bigger issue than most people want to believe.

What's interesting/ironic is that one of the first Zombie movies, "Night of the Living Dead," featured a black protagonist and was seen, at the time, as really being a positive step towards racial equality in America. We live in a hyper-sensitive society, and sooner or later everyone is going to be offended, but remember it's up to the individual to be offended not to the thing that offends. We have a choice of whether or not something offends us. Choose not to be offended, and the world can live more peacefully.
Do German people get upset in Call of Duty that we are only killing Germans? Did Mexicans get upset while playing Ghost Recon that we are killing Mexican terrorist? And if this game is set in Africa (which I am not sure it is, Is it?) then would you be killing African Zombiesnot African Americans? Perhaps I am wrong?

You know is this the first attempt from Capcom at making its Resident Evil francise more realistic, the setting being in Africa. I mean wasn't past Resident Evil games based on made up cities, e.g. Racoon City. :lol:
