Finally getting score it deserve.

still too high but people in comments section saying IGN suck that this because rated COD too low.

no. its not FPS game. its a movie game, interactive military drama ala uncharted 4.

someone (reviewer) have guts to score this game low on mainstream site.

Game is easily 10/10. GOTY for 2022 for me for sure. Not to mention, best looking game on console too.

That's not the point Uncharted and The Last of Us have nothing to do with annual franchises.

exactly. they are not annual franchise but they all belong in same category ie movie games.

COD used to be FPS. now its movie game in first person with occassional shooting. no longer FPS.

recently played UC4 its so bad so bad that it actually sum up wrong with mainstream gaming industry today.

I will probably spend like 10 minutes in MP. It's campaign for me. Oh, and I do like doing the co-op spec ops missions.

I've skipped COD since Black Ops 3. Just beat the MW2 campaign on Steam with maxed out settings and was in awe the entire playthrough. Definitely a must play for the gunplay, acting and graphics. Finally a next gen game!

You can really tell they are scraping the bottom of the barrel here when the Mexican Drug Cartel is the big bad you're taking on.

But a trash franchise that caters to the lowest common denominator and hasn't tried since the days of the 360 no one should be surprised by yet another paint by numbers entry to keep the yearly cycle fed.

I'm sure Microsoft will turn this franchise around right after they fix Halo Infinite's many on-going problems.

Why are people saying this is a movie that is a movie. I dont remember uncharted 4 being that bad. Its supposed to be a VIDEO game, you know on a tv screen that has parts you control called gameplay and non controlled parts that tie the story better. The fun part is connecting the story to yourself and enjoying the gameplay as you progress through the story. These are not open world games and are more linear. Tlou 2 and uc4 are not movies, its just the quality of video games have come a long way from tetris and the original mario bros on nes.

You don't think sitting and watching your game for 2 hours while walking a bit with your character inbetween cutscenes is that bad. Others do. Pretty simple.

If that's what "quality of videogames" is, I'll take the "trash" any day, thank you very much.

You can tell who hasn't played MW2... it's a great game with a lot of gameplay. I already got every trophy minus the 6 that you need to play coop, raids, or spec ops to unlock.

Up to this point MW 2019 was easily my favorite CoD game, but chances are this one will take that honor soon.

As said another freind my freind, playing Halflife 2 VR, game that's now 18 years old and feels more advanced.

It's amazing how little the FPS genre has advanced.

But, if it ain't broke. Call Of Duty fans know what to expect, and love being ripped off.

If they want to whip themselves on the back that's their prerogative.

No, COD 1 and 2 definitely allow for some freedom. Stuff can actually happen if you behave differently.

Later CODs are a purely linear, purely scripted experience. Wether you play or I play, the outcome is exactly the same.

I dislike when people just go "linear" and means it requires zero input from the player. Tons of linear games are great.

I haven't tried this franchise since CoD3 so I look forward to the day they all come to GP so I can give'em all a whirl. Especially this one, seems to be getting a lot of praise for it's SP campaign and that's what I'm all about these days.

Just for clarity: the 6 is the rating for the single-player portion. The multiplayer portion is still in progress and hasn’t been revealed.

COD has always been heavily scripted.

Mean, Halflife 2 is scripted with very few "open" sections (basically Highway 17) but the design within it's confines change up constantly. New ideas are always being thrown at the player or augmented.

COD is almost entirely the gameplay at the behest of the set-piece, that comes first. And it's there from day 1.

The only section in the original COD that recall even remotely giving the player any semblance of freedom is Pegasus Bridge.

This is why I'm saying that linear is such a broad and insufficient term to describe these games.

Half Life is linear

COD is linear

DOOM is linear

But they're all widely different in design, allowing for exploration of levels, or simply walking down a corridor:

Famous - but also misrepresented - picture

I'm on the last mission. It's certainly not winning any awards but it's not that bad. It's at least trying to have decent characters instead of placing generic soldier guys around you. They're also testing the waters with crafting mechanics. Probably something that's going to be a thing for Warzone 2.

Yes, big difference: World At War told a brutal story through WW2 but didn't do it by taking away control from the player.

Current AAA games constantly take control away from the player to tell a mediocre and badly written story.

@ghosts4ever: I am not a huge fan of CoD anymore. The campaigns have, over the years and for the most part, taken a back seat to multi-player (6 hours is an insult). Which, I wouldn't care - except the game is sold at $70 a copy.

Also, the mp is still a camping fest, and Activision has never done anything to really discourage that. Sniping is one thing, hanging out in the corner of a building with a shotgun is something else entirely.

Say what you want about their campaigns but Uncharted and TLOU multiplayer takes more skill than something like CoD, Gears, Halo, Fortnite, etc. basically any modern day shooters. They are very unique. They are the complete opposite of a "movielike" gaming experience.
