Modern Medal of Honor Warfare confirmed by EA

EA has officially announced the new Medal of Honor game for release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010.

Simply called "Medal of Honor", the game is set in present-day Afghanistan and focuses on Tier 1 Operators - super army soldiers, in other words - who get involved in situations all around the world.

"The development team has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community since the earliest stages of development to create the most authentic modern war experience," EA said in a press release.

While EALA works to create a "best-in-class" single-player campaign, EA DICE will work on multiplayer.

"When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier but bring it into today's war. The Tier 1 Operator is the most disciplined, deliberate and prepared warrior on the battlefield. He is a living, breathing, precision instrument of war," said Greg Goodrich, executive producer.

"We are honoured to have the rare opportunity to work closely with these men to create a game that shares their experience."

I shall pass. I can't really stand anything resembling modern military anymore.

Actually that goes for nearly everything with the military vibe hanging on to it.

Could be interesting providing they don't do a carbon copy of Modern Warfare.....which is probably what is going to happen :roll:

Nope, you're going to play a guy who has nothing to do all day apart from some daily rutine duties for half the game. the action intensifies when you (halfway through) switch perspective to another guy thick in the action, terrified and ducking for cover while blindfiring all his ammo into nothing.

MoH pretty much died after Frontline. Airborne was decent the first time through, but they're gonna really need to get it together if they want to continue the series.

I think it has some potential.

As long as they actually listen to these "Tier 1 Operators" it could be good... You don't get advice from guys like that unless you really are going for a realistic experience. Or they could do the whole "casual friendly simulator" like operation flashpoint DR which is basically a game whose AI is scaled by how many of the squad are still alive.

They gotta combine all that MoH has made so far.

Allied Assaults spec ops like missions, great MP, Pacific Assaults story, Airbournes freedom and they will get the game of the millenia :D

But knowing EA. Its gonna have some "huge gameplay changing feature" like... having to monitor your food and water supply? and evreything else is gonna be subpar or just avrage.

But since DICE is working on MP i could have some hope for the MP. Could... Since its probably just a small team of new guys...

They should just let this series die...IMO.

The best part about these types of threads is hearing people claim to know anything about a military experience. Always amazes me how little people know.

On topic, has to be really good for me to bite. I enjoyed all the past Medal of Honor games on all current gen, last gen, and Playstation consoles. Especially have fond memories of Medal of Honor Frontlines. :) We'll see.

Not surpise about it taking place in modern times. I might get it since I do enjoy the MoH series, but I hope it will be good. Dice working on the multiplayer is a good thing.

I wonder if people will get fed up with all these shooters set in modern times, like they got fed up of WWII shooters.

The old medal of honor games hold a place in my heart. So i hope this is good :)

Kids these days...

CoD literally wouldn't exist if it weren't for Medal of Honour. IW was founded by members of the MoH:AA team, and Activision picked up CoD so they would have a game to compete with MoH:AA and future MoH titles.

And despite all that, the CoD series still can't hold MoH:AA's jockstrap.

Back on topic it could be good, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Game has a definite "me too" vibe.

Well, until we see more info, I remain skeptical. It looks like another "me too" game that we've seen dozens of this gen. I like the DICE involvement and I like the "authenticity" remark. If they make a game authentic like Call of Duty USED to be, then I can appreciate it more so.

Hopefully DICE can do something with this franchise. It was all but dead, but I hope they can bring it back from the verge and provide a fun experience. And I am extremely happy to hear that it will not be a WW2 game, although I was hoping we would finally see a kick *** Vietnam game.
