There hasn't been a console war since last generation MS give up on that mid way through this current generation.

It reminds me of the mentally unstable musicians often found on Twitter, who are calling for approval as a good person.

They know they can't compete so they want to become the Netflix of gaming I guess.

It's not going to be the prevailing thought, but I welcome the idea of more unity.

Reasons:

#1: life is short. Buy what you want, play what you want. Really what matters is that you enjoy your console and the games on it.

#2: time spent online arguing ALWAYS be better spent.

#3: as you get older, there's already enough pressure against gamers. People think it's just for kids, that you shouldn't have the time etc. In a way, regardless of the console purchased, we are all on the same team enjoying a hobby that we enjoy.

That being said, I went through a phase in my life (early teens) when I defended my console with honour, so I guess going thorugh that stage is part of life.

As long as they know who's boss (Sony and Nintendo), I'm cool with that.

They want unity because they plan to dominate. Folks are willfully blind to their longterm strategy.

I predict a last place in games and last place in sales for the 4th generation in a row for MS.

I mean, the console wars has always been really dumb. This is the first time in years where it feels like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are all going to be relatively successful, creating really fun experiences.

I’m excited to see how the industry grows going forward with three players on the marketing who are successful, there’s never been a better time to play games than now.

Sony is in big trouble. They don't have anything like game pass, that is going to be a huge system seller. Microsoft is smart...why abandon their library of older games, just clean them up, wrap it up in a nice bow and serve them up in a subscription service. I for one am excited to play through the master chief collection again once my xbox ships.
