Microsoft has shamed us and played us fans one last time.

As far as I'm considered, Xbox fanbase is done! This was the third and final strike:

I've always been an Xbox bro and this gen has been an utter disgrace. I'm having anxiety every time I come to see what system wars is inevitably discussing. The Xbox brand is officially done. MS is far too consumed with their Game Pass service to care anymore.

Can we appreciate the fact that MS is being accused of not caring anymore, whereas the argument could easily be made that they care far more than they did at the outset of this gen. They've expanded their business to include more gamers (PC and Xbox) and offer first party games on a monthly subscription, much like EA did and have succeeded with. This brings in more gamers due to a lower price-point for multiple games, and it beats the hell out of paying monthly to stream a game.

They've had a terrible gen until recently (within a year,) but in my eyes, they've started to prove their worth. I used to have to own an Xbox as well as my PC, but now I can buy MS games on PC and that's a big win in my eyes.

It'll be alright dude, I diddnt get xbox this gen but I'm proabably going back to xbox next gen, skipped the xbox one this gen, launch was horrible, kinect cable box always online. went ps4 switch pc this time after being a huge 360 fan, but foreal I like the direction microsoft is going with gamepass, plus I miss halo/ gears / forza, straight up.

I played my cards right this gen. Got a Switch, Ps4 Slim for $200, and my old trusty gaming pc for the rest. Funny cuz when this gen started I was promoting Xbox for its bc efforts. They will get more money this way by releasing games on pc and Switch so it’s a win for everyone really. They will actually get some of my money now lol.

They get an A for effort, at least. I agree with your sentiments. Not that they are saints or anything, but I can't imagine this kind of failure happening to a more undeserving company; they try, they really do. And, big-picture-wise, I think a lot of things they've done recently will pay off.

The Xbox fanbase is already done. All the games ended up on other platforms... and now, other consoles. There's not much to fight about anymore. Even less so once everything goes streaming.

Cuphead is an ID@Xbox game, not a 1st party game...MCC going to Steam, now that is some shit, cause even if old games, it's something their 1st party been busting ass to make better.

The way things are, there is no 1 definitive way to game. PS4 been about the closet it has been, and would say PC, but I'm gonna have to use Epic Store to play Control and Outer World.

For me the first strike was changing what the Xbone was about after release and dropping kinect after we bought it, just so THEY could chase Sony sales. Didn't even compensate the gamers that paid for that camera or try to support it.

Then they dumped exclusivity, that was all the strikes I needed. Got rid of my Xbone the day after that e3 announcement. I already have a PC, I could have used that money on a PS4 or something else.

None of what they did would be wrong if they did it on the next console before it came out. You can't change what a console is about after release. Why would I buy an Xbox when you never know what MSs going to do.

Outside of pointless Systems Wars discussions where people try to justify themselves for not owning a competitor system, does it really matter?

As long as Xbox consoles continue to have the best controller, the best online service, the best features, and offer physical media; I'll continue to purchase them and it makes absolutely no difference if the games are also available on other platforms. They are just expanding the market for their games to other platforms, but the things that I love about Xbox consoles have not changed.
