From the tone of the thread by xbox fans they seem to feel these number represent a SUCCESS for the LAUNCH of the system.

Taking into account xbox fans who were waiting on the launch to dump their current xbox one for the newer model, the day one tech head junkies who always buy the newest tech on the market, and the fact that it's the holiday season and none of those factors would help sales even a few months down the line, the LAUNCH numbers are praised as success, however....

Switch – 79,958 (64,387)

^ those are switch numbers for last week just in lil ol irrelevant Japan...!

It needs to be stressed that these numbers are coming for a system that has already been out on the market for 8 months with no early adopters to help boost sales above the nominal number that consumers would normally buy.

lol this makes great SW material here. Someone needs to get on it ASAP.

Id like to see the comparison thread made since the number are basically even but one is a launch system and the other is a system that has already been out for 3/4 of a year.

@i_p_daily: Pretty much! These cows have to use the Switch to dump the Xbox One even further without realizing that the Switch demand is a lot higher than the PS4 in Japan. It's a shame though, the PS4 has peaked at 5.4 million units sold while the Switch is already 2.1 million sold in 9 months in Sony's home country. Sure PS4 is doing well globally, but do you think Sony is kind of worried about losing Japan in a shrinking console market?

I love that around 80 Japanese folks picked up a PS3 or WiiU. Probably for very cheap with a stack of good games also for very cheap.

It can be wise to wait until a console's end before playing it. Get all the fun for a fraction of the cost. It's what I should have done for WiiU and am attempting to do for WiiU. An exclusive Zelda or Pokemon RPG will force me to jump in tho :P

Over 1000 xboxs sold in Japan is good. Considering the x sold a quarter of the amount the pro did, ms will consider that a success.

Nintendo has been dominating Japan since the Wii. Console market is also on life support over there.

Literally everyone expects Nintendo to dominate that market even Sony. There's a reason they launched last in Japan with the PS4.

They know their strongest market is Europe followed closely by the US. They might be a bit worried about Japan but when they see how well the PS4 is selling globally they probably don't lose any sleep. The Xbone is a laughing stock because it's not doing well anywhere compared to the competition. Nintendo has Japan and Sony has the rest of the world. What does MS have, clouds?
