Lets predict 2021 masterpieces.

Hello friends

2020 did have masterpieces that were Doom Eternal, Desperados 3 and Black Mesa. but we are finally in 2021 so in this thread lets predict what games of 2021 will be masterpieces, shall we?

heres what i think will be

STALKER 2: Even if it wont be better than STALKER 1 but still going to be masterpiece as this is how you make FPS with deep immersive atmosphere.

Hitman 3: Hitman series always been masterpiece except Absolution and very first. Hitman 3 would look no exception accept its going to improved heavily from its predecessor and being last Hitman game.

Shadow warrior 3: Shadow warrior 1 was great but very flawed, 2 become loot shooter ie bad. now 3 returning to roots and going full on Doom Eternal. this time its going to be a masterpiece.

Resident Evil Village: None of RE games were masterpieces, even RE7 turn out to be best was not masterpiece. for this game I feel like it will finally be masterpiece as its evolving RE7 formula by mixing RE4 and RE7 into one. First person is best thing happen to franchise.

Deathloop: It may or may not be masterpiece depend on release but its by far one of the most innovative FPS i have seen in long time plus Arkane make excellent immersive sims. I dont think this will be exception.

So my friends, I believe these games going to be masterpieces of 2021.

Waiting for BotW2, Ratchet and Clank, God Of War, Horizon ( IF they can make the gameplay better), MGS remake ummm...

Age of Empires IV and Psychonauts 2 will be masterpieces.

Im also looking forward to IGI origins. Its made by Antimatters a rising storm 2 developers. if its SP campaign equivalent of rising storm than yeah!!.

Elden Ring has the highest chance of being a masterpiece and a 98.9824973% guaranteed GOTY.

The game awards GOTY will be another mainstream movie game. My guess is 100% it will be God of war sequel. GOW now become movie games.

Is that why Sekiro won last year?

Skimming a list of supposedly 2021 games the two that stands out to me are God of War and Horizon. Sequels to two of the best games of last gen.

As for new IPs I think the indie title 12 minutes has a really intriguing concept.

As for your list I can see Stalker (unlikely) and Resident evil maybe reaching that level. As for the other three there’s no way in hell. Especially not Shadow Warrior 3 lol.

I'm hoping Scorn is going to be a surprise hit because I love the atmosphere, art style and slow pace.

I'm hoping returnal is awesome. Looks like mass effect meets alienation in 3rd person.

Devs like Housemarque are so easy to root for.

After Cyberpunk, I think predicting masterpieces are becoming a thing of the past lol. But If I had to guess, Breath of the Wild 2!

BotW 2, Cyber Shadow, Ratchet n Clank, Halo Infinite, and Bravely Default II are my picks.

Seen a few suggestions for BOTW sequel here. Not sure it will be a masterpiece, or that it will even release in 2021, but it's certainly well worth watching. Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask proves that when Nintendo follows on directly from a usual Link-Zelda-Ganon formality installment, they can come up with some very interesting ideas.

Oh, and 12-3. Got the Prey thread right.

Definitely Breath of the Wild 2 is an easy call. I also have very high hopes for the following:

- Halo: Infinite

- Bravely Default II

- Monster Hunter Rise

- Elden Ring

- Resident Evil: Village

- Forza Horizon 5

I agree with sushiglutton. Horizon and God of War are contenders for becoming masterpieces.

I never play Zelda games, but they nearly always score 10/10, so yeah, BOTW will become game of the year.

All you need for a masterpiece these days is: a remake, a visually-enhanced port and deluxe editions of games that already came out several years ago.

It is. Classic Mafia was far from movie game but remake is just inferior cover shooter but I still enjoyed it.

Halo Infinite - Delayed, has stopped shilling it so it has a chance to turn out good lol.

XIII Remake - turned out trash

Mafia Remake - made it worse than the original, not that it was any good to begin with

Original Mafia was masterpiece. it was expected that Remake will be worse than original and it is.
