I think "sony innovations" = Nintendo's innovations 2 years prior.

This was a tough decision for me between M$ and Sony. Neither of these companies have done much as far as innovating.

Microsoft has done something somewhat innovative by ripping people off by charging people to play video games online that can be played free on an opposing console, Sony. They're getting away with it to.

Depends on what you mean by innovation. I would say it's a tie between MS and Sony.

Sony has innovated a lot from the software front with games like Journey, Uncharted, Heavy Rain, LBP and soon with LOU. while M$ is all milkage with XBL and now Kinect. But Nintendo ruined gaming for everyone with their pointless gimmicks and under-powered hardware.

Microsoft, but I still think they are fairly innovative. Live was a landmark for console gaming. Really quite incredible how they directly changed console gaming today, for better or worse.

Sony by far. The original Xbox was very innovative with adding a hdd, supporting discrete 5.1 sound, adding Xbox live, and additional game content through Xbox live. The 360 took this further, and essentially set in place the way we bought games this gen, added things like Netflix, and opened up the Xbox live arcade. These are things that both the others ended up mimicking, moreso Sony than Nintendo. This is all love it or hate it stuff I should add. Don't care for it, but Kinect deserves to be mentioned.

Sony is the only correct answer. Any other answer is blind fanboyism.

Sony copied:

-Wii with Move
-The entire online component from XBL
-Achievements from XBL
-Uncharted was heavily inspired by Gears of War
-Copied Nintendo by adding touchscreen to Vita
-Copied Netflix and other apps from Xbox Live

And the funny thing is, they haven't even copied some of the best things!
-Party Chat on XBL
-A shooter as good as Halo (lol Killzone & Resistance)
-A system seller like Mario, Zelda, Halo, or Gears.

Wow, someone sees it. Agreed it is a list of love it or hate it. Some work for me others not really but they are innovations in console experience. Even the X button in the middle of the controller was copied by Sony.

Sony.MS came up with the Kinect and a really great online system for consoles so they don't win least innovative company, but sadly the cows will deny that.

Why do people say Heavy rain is innovative, while the others I don't really see as innovative I can at least see an argument for them. Nothing about Heavy rain really screams innovative, just a game in a genre we don't see a lot of on consoles.

They innovated in the online and console hardware spaces while sony last innovation was blue ray.(in terms of consoles even though that kinda doesn't count as an innovation).

I think Cows are afraid that being least innovative = worst. Hence the fixed poll. Although Sony hasn't brought anything new to the console game this gen, they're pretty much 1st in the terms of console. (IMO).

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned M$ basically inventing achievements.

Sony copied it almost immediatly (big surprise there)

[QUOTE="charizard1605"]Microsoft did at least bring us Achievements, Xbox Live, Gamerscores, DLC and the like. Sony excels at perfecting existing concepts- this is not a bad thing, this is actually wonderful, they take existing concepts like analog sticks, controller vibration, and the like, and they perfect and refine them, until their version is the standard used by the industry. Having said that though, they remain the least INNOVATIVE.

Blu-ray Remote Play Sixaxis

sixaxis isn't innovative. its a gimmick that failed, like the move. blu ray isn't really innovative when it requires 15-20 minutes mandatory installs. remote play is nothing, how many games actually use it? like six axis its a poorly implemented gimmick meanwhile MS has revolutionized online gaming, introduced achievements, was a big reason why so many indie games are actually successful now a days, netflix and alot of other media services to consoles

Sony by far, controller as Exhibit A.

Not really bad though. You have Nintendo on the innovation side introducing concepts that they or someone else perfect down the line, and then you have Sony on the opposite end perfecting working concepts (for the most part). THe only problem is that without other people making the innovations, Sony would be forever stuck.

how is xbl or the other media services not innovative? how are achievements not innovative? MS completely changed the gaming industry this gen. more games are multiplayer focused, more indie games are getting recognition. more games get dlc, for better or worse. all games have achievements. all consoles have netflix now and the 360 offers a ton of media services. face it, MS completely changed what a console can be this gen. sony hasn't really done anything besides blu ray. even then, more storage space isn't that big of an innovation considering the 10 seconds to swap a disc is a lot less than the mandatory install times

I was talking about the ps3 innovations you were trying to debunk. It's kinda funny though that you talk about indie games getting recognition because of MS when it's pretty clear MS isn't willing to support developers if they don't have a guaranteed AAAA IP. And achievements are hardly innovative, they've existed for a long time. Either way, you can barely say MS was more innovative than Sony this gen.
