Kimba and Aladdin getting HD Remasters

Disney games, Aladdin in particular, even on the 8-bit versions had incredibly beautiful, smooth and expressive animations that are (arguably) the best visuals for a platformer ever seen on the systems even outdoing the likes of both Sega and Nintendos own own Sonic and Mario.

Now, because no one asked for it, and because Will Smith whitewashed all of Agrabah, you're getting Remaster.

he GameStop conference really doesn't seem to be as confidential as it should be - according to yet another leak from it, the 90s Aladdin and The Lion King Sega Mega Drive and SNES games could be making their way to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

First revealed by Wolverinefactor on Twitter, the games will supposedly include the original soundtracks and be available to pre-order from GameStop "tomorrow morning" (which, depending on their time zone, could be at some point today).

GameXplain went on to corroborate the news and even supplied an image that looks like it was cheekily taken at the conference, showing physical copies of the games as a HD remaster collection for all consoles.

A separate source also confirmed the leak to Gematsu, reporting that the games will be playable in both original and 1080p resolutions, and will have new features allowing players to fast-forward or rewind to get to any part of the game, and even let the game take over to show players how to complete a level.

We don't know yet what the remasters will fully entail, or even if they'll be coming to PC, but it looks like we'll find out very soon.

I liked aladdin game on genesis when i was kid.

now i doubt i would care about it since now i grow up.

I just hope they dont destroy the good art those games had.

Aladdin was one of my favorite Sega Genesis game but Lion King, not so much. Aladdin for the Genesis was so much better than SNES version, and back in my day, kids liked the Genesis version more because it had a sword and fancy animation to go along with it. Don't get me wrong, Both Genesis & SNES versions are good but I prefer the Genesis version even more so. Although to be honest, it's not as great as I remember, after playing it again as an adult but I do hope this HD Remaster fixes that.

NES little Mermaid could use an update whenever her live releases of course ;)

I agree, Genesis was far better than SNES in every way imo. id say its still best console ever for its time.

it has so many great games and great graphics for its time.

Aladdin and lion king were great on mega drive but hard as hell. For some reason the snes versions didn't feel ad good.

I'm in the minority group that likes the Capcom Aladdin on SNES more :P

Cool. I played a ton of Aladdin on the Mega Drive.

Wow, the live action version of that song is terrible. The lady is completely over-singing it and doing stupid wibbly wobbly shit with her voice.

I remember the nightmare that was TLK and getting past those bleeding monkeys. Both games were great, so hopefully they don't screw the pooch.

$60 each but they come in classically designed boxes. No manual.

I saw physical copies in the advertisement for consoles. Are they really gonna waste a whole blue ray on 20mb games?

These HD remasters are hit and miss. Found the Duck Tales one soulless, but the castle of illusion one was fairly great. You really can't tell at this stage. If it's the same game but in flat HD cartoon, it's likely to be something best left. If they do something with the graphics and tighten the gameplay, we will see.

As for the Disney games, looking forward to the Aladdin remaster. But The Lion King was meh.

@dimebag667: Yeah, I've mentioned the Kimba thing before at the OT. Shame on Disney for plagiarizing so blatantly and yet continuing to deny it.

Come to think of it, Disney's whole library is full of copies/adaptations/plagiarism of earlier works. Yet that has helped them become the biggest entertainment media company.

I own both games for Genesis/SNES.

Never beat either of them because they get insanely hard later in the games.

Hopefully the remakes have an easy mode.

If they are remastering them, they should have a code to turn Kimba white, the way he was meant to be.

@DocSanchez: This isn't going down the route of Ducktales, its just the original roms displayed in HD.

With that said I loved the Ducktales remake and Castle of Illusion.
