because I WON'T buy it if its sexist.

I saw the GT review where they show lara moaning to the point of orgasm in that one scene. there are also various close-ups of lara's ass at the upgrade screen or when she climbs up a ladder. it all seems pretty exploitative. is this game made for 13-year old boys to drool over lara's polygonal body or is there real substance to her characterization?

Lara became famous in the first place for the same reasons as Katy Perry. They have toned the twins down in recent years though.

You are now asking this? Tomb Raider has always been about the knockers.

or is there real substance to her characterization?

black_chamber99

Rather than crumbling under the weight of her physical and emotional struggles, she emerges from them a stronger person.

It's empowering to witness Lara's journey from the understandably fearful individual she is when she first arrives on the island to the justifiably confident survivor she becomes

Yes, and gamers just love to toss it to the side. They have this knee-jerk reaction of not listening to any bit of reason put forth if goes against their precious video games. It's sad enough that they're unwilling to address the problem generally, but they can't even admit Tomb Raider is (which is one of the worst I have ever seen). This game will not be fun to play. No, it appeals to PC gamers who want to play out their power fantasy and walk around from one forced set-piece to the next, indulging in cheap instantly gratifying thrills. So it will suck, but even worse than that, it will just make the push for equal rights even harder. Portraying women in such ways creates a very unrealistic depiction of 50% of the population, and gamers, especially the anti-social neckbeards, will use it as some basis for reality, because it's the only thing they understand.

GT says quite the opposite and their argument is presented with alot better evidence.

Everything about your post exposes how superficially you examined the game, working by only surface observation without any grasp of the context. I mean if you can't tell by carefully observing how much punishment Lara is subjected to (from all her falls and slips on rugged terrain that will inflict bruises and lacerations, among other forms of bodily harm) that her cries and moans are that of pain, not pleasure, then how are you even coming to any conclusion not born out of ignorance?

It's essentially a journey of self discovery, so there's an underlying context to the punishment Lara must endure, those trials and ordeals that shape and mold an inexperienced frail girl into a hardended explorer.

I wont crucify TC and say he is unto rubbish. while your assumptions of the game is entirely wrong, i also share your assumption for Lara having weird moans that seem similar to a sexual thingy than that of pain, but that could be me i guess

I don't really wanna buy it because it looks linear and short based on the videos. Not buying it for those reasons is dumb.

I don't know if it's sexist... but the recent gamespot flop review 8.5 by our very own feminist Carolyn Petit prove something.......

Sexual objectification isn't sexist. Assuming it's the "job" of the (likely male) player to "protect" the female protagonist from harm certainly is.

They said the way she is portrayed followed up by the acts of brutality she commits goes completely against showing her as a "vunerable" character and makes her like a terminator.

What's sexist about it ?

Gay people get Uncharted.

We get Tomb Raider.

It's all about diversity, people.
