I find myself watching it regularly since 2005. Back then it was quite the thing- the ps3 looked like a beast and the games shown looked incredbile. Coming from the ps1 and ps2 domination everyone assumed that ps3 will achieve the same level of legendary status. I loved the way the presentation was handled, ken goataragi showcasing his genius on stage, the tech explanations etc. Have never seen a better E3 conference. It had people talking for a huge amount of time.

I usually only remember the horrible conferences, I'm not sure which one I liked the best. But "OMG, they remake FF7" was certainly one of the biggest impacts a conference ever had on me.

In the end PS3 still got second place, they would've been first if ninty didn't luck out with their casual gimmick.

Fck Xbox though, being the first to introduce pay to play for multiplayer. Would've been better if MS never went in the console industry.

people didnt expect ps3 and xbox to be neck and neck though. When the conference happened most people assumed sony would run away with it

Not sure why they'd think that. The PS3 didn't have good hardware or anything that made it stand out against the 360.

Nobody forced you to pay for online. You enabled Sony to charge you by paying for the service when it was introduced.

And Sony and MS were so shaken by the Wii that they're still trying to emulate its success (well, MS gave up on Kinect, but Sony is still trying to make motion controls and VR happen).

What a complete load of bull shit.... PS4 is currently on track to become the fastest selling console to sell 100 million units...... And it's not copied Wii at all.....

VR existed long before Wii did too.

Sony's target market are casuals. Their games are clearly designed for them (5-10 hours long, simplistic combat, linear gameplay, lots of cut scenes, etc.).

VR is an exension of trying to appeal to that market even further.

Sony did try to imitate the Wii U by trying to get all PS4 games work as remote play on the PS Vita and the Vita to work as a controller for the PS4 and that ended up going nowhere since the Vita was a total flop. Did everyone seriously forget this?

If you call COD and fifa brogamers, casual then sure.

But Sony doesn't center their whole console experience around a gimmick like Ninty mostly does.

Lol, again the Wii U was centered around this gimmick experience, the PS4 wasn't. (hell it couldn't almost nobody had a vita)

Stupid comparison.

Sony's E3 2016 , and the orchestra. This was the moment that shook even the hardest core Lemmings. Sony became their daddy. They knew Xbawx was very lame in comparison , and that Fail Spencer was a joke.

  • God of War - demo
  • Spider-man
  • Death Stranding
  • Days Gone - demo

-

  • The Last Guardian
  • Horizon Zero Dawn - demonstration
  • Detroit Become Human

Resident Evil VII was also announed with release date + full PSVR support. Crash Bandicoot remake trilogy was also announced.

TLG , HZD , RE VII (PSVR) , and Crash already delivered , and I have good feelings about God of War , Detroit , and Spider-man which are coming soon.

What the what?????

Only Sony Fan would create a topic about what was shown at a show instead of what was played 13 years ago.

Sony Fan continue to be the clowns of SW.

@UssjTrunks:

Umm, as a whole, the ps3 hardware completely destroyed the 360 hardware when the ps3 launched. It had a blu-ray player, came out of the box with WiFi capabilities, had an Internet browser (although this is more software than anything), an HDMI output, and Bluetooth capabilities, and with having all of this, Sony still managed to not only having no need for the power brick, but also allowing the ps3 to have a MUCH better reliability rate than the 360.

this ps3 was ken goataragis masterpiece

And yet every multiplat looked/ran better on the 360.

@UssjTrunks:

1st of all, every multiplat did not run better on the 360, Burnout Paradise was 1 of few multiplats that ran and performed better on the ps3.

2ndly, plenty of devs stated last gen that the 360 was EASIER to develop for vs the ps3. Easier =/= More powerful.

@UssjTrunks:

And the "end result" was that the ps3 hardware completely destroyed the 360 hardware. Having superior multiplats doesn't always automatically equates to superior hardware.

@knight-k: actually no the Ds sold the most overall even more than the Wii

So that gen would have still went to Nintendo overall

And ugh ps3 was a train wreck Sony's lucky to fix itself later in the Gen but boy those first few years

I don't know what you were playing because it had absolutely nothing aside from motor storm and mgs iv

It wasn't like the ps2 or ps1 where there was always something new to play and I don't know something about the GC xbox and ps2 era is that each console had something different to play

Like for example on Xbox there was Sega gt 2002 halo jsrf

Gc had wave race Luigi mansion Mario party 4 eternal darkness

And we all know ps2 had timesplitters 1 gt3 etc

The PS3 just didn't have that

Sony's target market are casuals. Their games are clearly designed for them (5-10 hours long, simplistic combat, linear gameplay, lots of cut scenes, etc.).

VR is an exension of trying to appeal to that market even further.

Yes, i forgot i beat bloodborne and Horizon in 1 weekend.

2 games on a 4+ year old console.

Yes compared to MS that has 7 Forza games in the same time.

And lots ot cutscenes should be a good thing, since Quantum Break is a TV show with a bland game attached to it.

Wait what? No it didn't. The 360s GPU was much better than what was in the PS3. In fact, the PS3 was supposed to user 2 cell processors and skip traditional GPU altogether but instead opted at the last minute to go with the inferior NVidia GPU.

He's right though, the end result is all that matters. Being easier to develop for made an overwhelming majority of multiplats look and perform better. Which console had more power on paper was irrelevant at that point. Mentioning the very few games that happened to run better is a moot point since that was the exception rather than the norm.

End result >>>>>>>>> paper tiger

7 Forza games in 4 years? You don't have to lie to kick it cow. Don't know why you cows have to lie so much. Just do what you always do, talk about graphics and sales....oh wait better yet, just talk about sales.

Also DS has nothing to do with Wii vs PS3, it's a handheld.

PS3 has a great exclusive library. Demon's souls, Uncharted 2, TLOU,... and of course all the multiplats that Wii didn't have.

If you only had a Wii, that gen was absolute pathetic because you'd miss out on so many games.

Nintendo was just lucky with Wii that it hit a string with the casuals aka soccer moms, old people,... And Wii U was an utter failure, casuals aren't loyal.

What a complete load of bull shit.... PS4 is currently on track to become the fastest selling console to sell 100 million units...... And it's not copied Wii at all.....

VR existed long before Wii did too.

This.

Lol, Sony isn't as stupid as ninty to think casuals are a loyal market.

Spoken like a salty butthurt lem lol. If Sony's market are casuals what is MS marketing to? Please STFU you rabid lem.

Lmao... he's struck a nerve. Triggered much? Hahahaha.

@kingtito:

But the ps3 cpu was WAY more powerful and capable than the 360 cpu, in fact the cpu differences was greater than the gpu differences. The ps3 hardware not only did more, and came with much more than the 360 hardware, but it also had a MUCH lower fail rate than the 360. In a capable hands, games on the ps3 (mainly exclusives), made some questioned if the same exact game can be done on the 360. While most multiplats looked better on the 360, most (if not all) of the exclusives on the ps3 trumped that of the 360's.

Except that, well you know, it never officially passed prior to the launch of gen 8 AND the last OFFICIAL tally had the 360 ahead. Sucks I know but you cows keep pushing that narrative. A few more times and that should make it a fact.....perhaps....maybe. Oh and it after the most successful console in the history of consoles and lost the largest market share not to mention over 90% of NPDs ,you know those sales you cows love to throw around the past 4 years. The PS3 was a failure in the eyes of Sony which is why the PS4 went in a different direction.

Must be hard going from the most popular console ever created to 3rd with a massive drop in market share not to mention all the money it lost for Sony. Thank GOD for that BR player huh.

Lol, PS3 kept on selling worldwide unlike 360, only the biggest of lemmings will deny the inevitable fact that PS3 has passed 360. And we'll get the official results eventually, I hope. Even http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/ has PS3 over 360.

Sucks that 360 with all the mistakes of Sony couldn't even outsell PS3. Lol, 360 was truly a joke and will only be remembered for RROD.

And in the present, PS4 is at 70mil +, meanwhile Xbone has no exclusive worth mentioning and is at 35 mil... LOL.

I mean after the "failure of PS3" you'd think it would be an easy win for MS...

Alas, Playstation is king again lemming.
