Is God Of War the current game of the Generation?

Has it toppled crap combat like the witcher 3 and other games that came out this gen and its what this generation should be about?

like when they think of this gen ps4/xb1/pc/wiiU won't people just go damn that god of war was the game of the gen.

Still Witcher 3 to me. GoW is so far incredible but W3 is the pinnacle of the gen so far. BOTW has a say in this as well to many. When RDR2 comes out everything will be up in the air again. We heard all of this when Uncharted 4 and Horizon first dropped.

BOTW and Odyssey still outscored it

I also enjoyed BOTW more. Although I enjoy GOW more than Mario Odessey.

Breath of the Wild is game of the gen, maybe Mario odyssey close second.

I'm currently 40% through the game and, oh boy did the critics really love their free trip to Norway cause it's good, but I can see why Gamespot didn't give it a ten.

Sony exclusives always feel a bit sterilized to me. Maybe it's the forced drama and emotion that never lands. Maybe it's the uncanny valley. Something about them keeps me at a distance.

I'm still not sure about it. I don't like kratos at all in this game. I hate the way he talks. Boy this boy that. The kid bantering all the time gets old. He is not needed is this game at all. I liked kratos when he was a raging badass.

BOTW and Odyssey aren't even the best compared to the other games in their respective franchises.

And LOL at anyone trying to claim Witcher 3...

GoW PS4 is the pinnacle of this gen. The game is not just an amazing GoW game, it is an amazing game in the broadest sense: combat, graphics, control, story, right down to just fundamental polish and optimization like startup time and load and save speed. It nails everything.

@tryit: Well yeah, it's a GoW game. Crazy that Mack actually didn't hate it, he usually always hates console games.

Understood. With Uncharted 4 the drama was oh no, my brother will be killed if we don't get this money? and "I'm up to my old shenanigans and didn't tell Elena" LMAO. Who...........Cares? It was the weakest of the Uncharted games to me. 2 was much better imo.

Horizon just plain lost me about 10-12 hours in. I just didn't care. Robo dinos got boring to fight, the story never grabbed me and Aloy was Ms monotone boredom. The mechanics were great but not enough to push me through it.

But no matter what anyone says the mainstream reviewers and gamers want this medium to be a story telling medium. I enjoy it for that too but with those 2 heavily heralded games I lol. GoW is much stronger to me at this point.

I like it a lot, it's easily my GOTY already. It might even be my GOTG when I finish it, we'll see.

So far I'm enjoying it more than I enjoyed TW3 and I consider that to be my GOTG.

BOTW for me. bloodborne is still the best PS4 exclusive to date.

I'm enjoying it and Ill say GOTY so far but to soon to get that crazy. I would like to 100% it and atleast try the "give me god of war" mode some more. There is some interesting behaviour changes there. I just had lots of hours with Bloodborne and I got to even get the story telling of that game. Too soon for GOW but great game so far.

@hrt_rulz01: witchers combat is shit, too many witcher sense missions, and for me personally, the game is too damn big. I dont have time for that

It's in the top 5 alongside, BOTW and Witcher 3. But it needs to win a lot of GOTY to get to that point. Lets wait till the year ends.

All BS aside Pedro, you really need to play it.

If you like gameplay then you'll love GOD of War, I loved Horizon Zero Dawn because of it's fantastic game play mechanics...I can tell you now that God of War's gameplay is even better.

But if you don't like games that require skill then it may not be the game for you. I'm playing one level below God of War difficulty and I've been REKT more than a few times but the gameplay is so fun I just smile and think to myself, damn I gotta GET GUD.

This is what stopped me after the first couple of hours.

The fact that so many of the people who praise TW3 also claim to hate movie games proves to me this board is full of shit. There is no way not to love "movie games" and praise TW3 because the gameplay which is shit, is only there to be a buffer until the next boring cut scene launches for 5 to 10 minutes.

The gameplay is what makes a game, the story is what pushes it along. That's what makes both HZD and God of War fantastic games. Too bad arm chair games are stuck praising mediocre games because that's all they have to experience for AAA quality on their favorite system.

For me it’s bloodborne it was the game the reignited my love for gaming, but so TW3 and GOW are close, all threee are perfect games imo
