Really, the big issue is the battery life.Hopefully they can make it less of a issue in future iterations.
Played it a bit at the mall today, it was ok. 3D is a bit overrated, was expecting it to be more than a blurry effect. I only played Street Fighter 4 which looked better than I thought it would, I'll buy it somewhere down the road when they fix the battery life.
Ehhh...
The more I read reviews about my many skepticisms, the more I worry. It seems like the 3D aspect is almost a chore to a certain extent...Needing the Unit to stay a certain range from your eyes and all that stuff. I have a feeling with the unit being out for a while, people will start to go back to 2d and just using 3d to show off to people. Anyway still looks cool, just has some faults IMO. I have no problem with it being a 2d successor to the DS, so it doesnt really matter to me...3D has and never will blow me away.
So, it's getting 7.5s because of the Battery.
For Shame Nintendo.

Well that and while the 3d is cool it seems to be a pain int he butt to postion yourself in the right spot to get the good 3d effect.
I'm glad I don't let others opinions effect my purchases 8)I'd be cautious on buying a 60$ game with a 7.5 score let alown a 250$ system and it also seems from all thenegative points that the 7.5 was a gimme. Sounded more like a 6.0-6.5 score.

I'm not looking to buy a 3DS for the battery life (I'm almost NEVER in the situation where I don't have any place to charge it.. I mean in this day and age there are plugs everywhere..), I'm looking to buy a 3DS for the games. And the 3DS promises to have many great games.SoraX64
I just wish OOT 3D was a launch title. :( I hate waiting for stuff.

Games are 40 bucks bro. The score doens't even impact me whatsoever. I'm going to get the 3DS on summer since that's when all the good games are going to be rolling in.

He is talking about a $60 console game.I don't get the battery life issue. It's not as if it's a phone that needs to be on for long periods of time. That's not really an issue for me - More so what they said about the launch software is true. There isn't really any reason to buy one now, besides investing for future titles.
As for the viewing angle, I didn't really have a problem with it when I played one at Best Buy. The only problem I had was losing it slightly for a few seconds while playing Super Street Fighter IV 3D.
Seems about right. Low battery life, 1 stick, the non-mind-blowing 3D effect, and the price oh lord the price, are going to be a problem for Nintendo.
If I'm being honest, the NGP at the right price could win the handheld war.

sorry but the handheld war isnt really a war... its more like sony trying to make a feeble attempt and being put down :)
And the next feeble attempt has a $600 dollar price tag; Twice that of the 3Ds

y?
Idk its just a hunch really. Its all this emphasis on the 3D thats worrying me. The lowered battery life is also of concern. While I think its still going to be a huge success I think nintendo will probably bail from it. Nothing is for sure though.[QUOTE="Fundai"]

Thats wont affect me though, cuz im waiting for the lite version

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying its not a strong system, I'm just saying I think a lot of people are gonna hold off on buying it off launch after seeing the DS have like 5 iterations. I can't wait to see what the system can do tbh.1 stick doesn't really handicap the system because of the touchscreen. The only FPS I own for the DS is Metroid Prime Hunters, and it controls really well.Seems about right. I'm like the only one waiting, and I'M usually the one buying the nintendo systems first and such...

thats why I plan to have 3d on when I'm at home and 3d off when i take it on the go.Having spent some time playing with the 3DS myself, I feel 7.5 is generous in comparison to the current DS lineup. The 3DS should not cost $250, $200 would be a more reasonable price point given its capabilities.

Yeah, lets just ignore that Sony stole 1/3 of the market from Nintendo with the PSP.
And that price for the NGP is laughable, you are aware that the rumoured price is $250-350 right?

agreed,
I really don't see the appeal in the DS... or 3DS for that matter. The NGP is gonna be able to host so many more different types of games based on hardward alone. I guess folks just gotta have the new Nintendo... it's like apple.
wow! nintendo won't be happy with this =)asadNAWABI
Nintendo has very little interest in gaming journalism, and they care even less about users posting on forums. Whether IGN likes it or not, the 3DS will sell like hot cakes, receiving a solid library of games further down the road.
The battery life isn't a problem for me I just plug in and play like all the other handhelds, I don't bring handheld with me when I go out.
Sure the PSP is as bad the battery even dies in the PSP when you have it turned off
The one thing I don't like is the look off the console, the layered colors and sparkly plastic, oh and Nintendo should really have put better cameras in the system 0.3 mega pixels
