And told to buy only one of these, some accessories, and some games, which would you choose? And why?

Gaming PC

Xbox 360

PS3

Wii

EDIT: doesnt matter if you already own them, you have been stripped away from all of these

I'd just take a 360 and get about a dozen games I want most. I'd use the rest of the money on hookers and cocaine.

PC, because I'm not stupid. I could build a great PC for $1000, get a nice keyboard/mouse, and spend the rest on games. Which happen to be not as expensive as console games(well, most of them)

because i could get more cheaper superior multiplatform games on pc during the steam sales than i would with the consoles! while ill be able to pay as low as $5 for multiplat. consoles will still have to pay 20-$40 and have worst graphics

PC obviously.... i don't think i know anyone who would take a gaming console over a PC if they had neither. Gaming consoles are only a viable option if you already have a PC of some sort.

But I would buy a gaming PC, though preferably I would buy the parts for it. It has the best library this gen, and has some of my favorite games as well such as Mount and Blade, STALKER, StarCraft 2, Guild Wars: Trilogy (most of its campaigns came out this gen... so) as well as having a lot of games I am looking forward to such as Diablo 3, ArcheAge, Starcraft 2 expansions, Guild Wars 2 and dont forget it can play games from previous gens, has the best multiplats for most of the part and can do a lot of other stuff such as typing documents, ect.

Edit: with that said, I would miss my Wii.

The Pc will get me the most out of the $2000.

That's enough for a build with a sandy bridge, an HD 6990 and three 1080p monitors for Eyefinity! Plus i'd probably have enough for a good 10 games on Steam.

On the console what would I get for my 2,000? A $300 console, with inferior graphics, no mods, poor performance, having to deal with discs, and what? A few extra controllers? The rest of the money would go to waste and I'd end up with a crappy gaming platform.

Most people's objection to PC gaming isn't that it sucks - it's that it's expensive. This mitigates that issue, so I don't know whyanyone would pick the cheapo, inferior platform, except to score "points" in the argument.

Kinthalis

someone that picks a console has probably not seen multiplats running at 1080p with over 60fps

tbh thats the least of my worries as a gamer, sometimes i think of some people on this board like audiophiles who think their way is always best and must be the best equipment.

Realistically I'd probably spend 300-400 on games and put the rest in the bank. I already have all of those but the 360, so I'd probably buy a Mac Mini or Macbook Air (11" or 13", not sure yet). But from that list, the gaming PC definitely. I always want to have a decent PC, so that's an easy choice.

to me gaming is all about immersion and graphics and performance play a big role in that! while i still enjoy older games i dont get as immersed in them anymore as playing games with more up to date graphics

Yes but it has gone down...a lot.... plus the mac book can be catagorized as a gaming "pc". Gaming wise it is a bit down graded, so there isnt exactly a point towards it.

Why aren't previous gen consoles available? I'd rather pick up a PS2 and stock up on dozens of RPGs for it and PSX and enjoy myself to the fullest.

Or perhaps a DS? Same thing, more RPGs for me.

From that list... I don't know, I'd have to go with PS3 (again, a decent selection of older gen RPGs available).

A gaming PC would be the obvious choice but I could get all of them with that money.

But yeah,a gaming PC with a ton of games from steam.
