If you could relive playing any game for the first time, what game would it be?

Definitely a few games that come to mind:

  • MGS 2: this game was mind-blowing for its time. I just remember dem graphics but also it was a follow up to my favorite game. Boy was I stoked to play MGS 2!
  • MGS: my favorite game, but what makes it special is I had no clue what I would be playing at that time. My friends recommended the game and I had only remember the demo at that point. I went on to replay this game at least 8 times through my life!
  • Ocarina of Time: like MGS, didn't know at the time that I would be playing one of the greatest games ever. The graphics, the music, the charm, it's all there, and still unmatched today.

How about you, SW? If you could relive playing any game for the first time, what game would it be?

Halo:CE, in 2001.

H.M. KOTOR, in 2003.

But I wouldn't want to play them for the first time in now 2022. wouldn't have nearly the impact. :P

I did play it recently on switch. Pre purchased it even! I got through Taris and realized I had played the shit of out kotor.... It wasn't so much that the game felt rough, moreseo than I've just exhausted the experience.

Resident Evil 4 for sure. It was such an incredible experience and I haven't gotten sick of replaying it.

@SolidGame_basic:

I am assuming you mean going back in time... anyway:

  • ES IV, Oblivion (yes, I do still like it better than Morrowind or Skyrim)
  • Fallout 3
  • Super Mario Bros 3
  • Metroid 2
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Halo

Playing Halflfie for the first time was like getting sucked off for 12 hours straight. Only Halflife was cheaper.

Final Fantasy VII instantly comes to mind.

But as for others:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Dragon Quest VII

Wii Sports (As random as that is. My god, did my family and I have some fun with it when it first released.)

Half-Life 2. Oh, God...hearing that tentacle beast two levels before you even get to it.

Zelda: ALTTP - Playing the only perfect game for the first time was enthralling. Lost so much sleep.

Morrowind: Just...wow.

Going back to games I once loved sometimes opens my eyes to some of them not holding up to test of time. I imagine to relive that initial experience of a certain game that one would have to have no knowledge of anything gaming related that happened since that experience.

Anyhow, I still play older games I use to play, and the ones I can still appreciate I end up appreciating more because they stand the test of time, and I'd rather have that.

Super Metroid always pops to mind when this question is asked. I’d love to play this when I was old enough to really appreciate its design…..not as some dumbshit 16 year old.

This is a trap and not a good idea.

1. You’d lose all of your great memories of a game.

2. You’d play and judge said game on your standards today, not when you originally played it.

Hell, you might not even like it now. I’ll keep my memories and just play what I have.

Now if you mean go back in time with no memories to experience a game again…Shadow of the Colossus would be up there for me. Maybe not number one but it definitely hit me some kind of way.

It remains one of my great gaming memories. So many good times trying to work that maze out with JJ, Champ and Apple.
