If there is one game that has a chance of getting AAAAe this year...

it's God of War III. I'm not SAYING that it will. Just saying it has the best chance. Think about it. MGS 4 was the last game to get a 10, and it was the closer to an epic Sony franchise (yes, I'm aware the MGS series is not Sony exclusive, but most people consider it Sony's). It was also a graphics showpiece and an epic gaming experience.

Enter GOW III, which is the closer to an epic Sony franchise, graphics showpiece, and also intended to be one of the most epic gaming experiences of all time. I see a repeat happening. Oh, and feel free to keep bumping this untill release if you wanna try to make me look like an idiot. I could really care less.

a 10 hour campaign and no way to integrate online really isn't worth a 10.

no online isn't something that should be used against it when it gets rated, though.

replayability for me, would include: play once, done. So that turns out to be a rental sort of game, which doesn't deserve a 10 for the $60 dollars you'd pay for it.

i havnt played MGS4 or GoW... but they seem like pretty darn different games to me. GoW has a chance, but I dont think MGS4's score is much evidence that it will lol. I think HoW will be 9.0-9.5 (maybe), a high quality exceptional game, but not a 10.

I just dont think God of War has quite a basis for being 10. I mean there's not many 10's,... but they tend to have a greater scope then a campaign (does GoW do anymore?). MGS4 backed up its stellar campaign with multiplayer... GTA4 was massively openworlded and also packed multiplayer.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the developers said GOW III would be 15 hours or more (assuming that's what you're referring to). MGS 4's online wasn't all that great anyways. It was the story/gameplay that got that game a 10. Also, OoT didn't have online...

Maybe that one game. Zelda or something like that. And that one Halo game might score ok-ish.

I think GoW3 will be a solid 9.0 or 9.5, but not a 10. If there will be a 10 its probably red dead redemption.

Reason? Rockstar is making it, and its been stated they're treating this game like a grand theft auto. So super-high production value, a ton of people working on it, and the current information we have on the game indicates it will be a very good game.

It won't be GOW3; simply not enough content on the disc to warrant the score. Quality, but you also need quantity to get the magic 10. A 10 hours campaign and lack of any online or multiplayer modes severely limit its replayability. In my opinion, if it is going to be any game, it would be Halo: Reach, but even then that's a no (For the record, I thought it was going to be ME2, but that didn't happen :P)

This has been discussed a bunch of times believe it or not. And the official answer is, I'm not making this up, the single-player exceeds so well it flies past the 10 mark despite it's flaws. And also a 10/10 isn't 'perfect', despite the word being associated with it, it is 'prime'.

GOW III doesn't fit the cheese.

Since when in the hell does a game have to have online to get a 10? Zelda:OoT didn't have online. Both GTA IV and MGS 4 had tacked on multiplayer. Hell, I think the only game that got a 10 and had GOOD online multiplayer was Tony Hawk 3.

Super Mario Galaxy 2. I still don't know how SMG didn't receive a 10. It's easily one of this gen's best games and far more deserving than GTA IV or MGS4.

starcraft II,and imo reach/gow3 will get both 9.5-9.0 or here.

If Starcraft II is released this year, yeah it has a decent shot.

I think a 9.5 is guaranteed for that game though.

GoWIII also has a slim chance of hitting the 10 mark. The only way it can do that though is deliver a shocking/satisfying ending and absoutely insane gameplay that's just GoW pumped with every kind of steroid imaginable..

I have GoW lll as my game of the year right now, and to think there isnt a 10 coming out this year is almost insane for me. While I think GoW has the best chance, I think with other titles like Reach, Bioshock 2, Splinter Cell, Red Dead Redemtion, Super Mario Galaxy ll, ect. something is bound to hit the 'perfection' mark.

mgs4 shouldnt have gotten a 10 solely based on you having to install junk after every 10 minutes of gameplay and 25 minutes of cutscenes. couldnt go much after the first boss, hated the game compared to mgs3.mtradr43

It didn't deserve a 10. The Cutscenes were too long...and the boss fights werent that great.

Sorry man you can chalk it up to hype all you want. The fact of the matter is, there are people who still believe it's a 10, and it got GOTY for more than one magazine/website. Maybe it wasn't a 10 for you, but unfortunately this is GS System Wars, where your opinion amounts to near nothing compared to this website's scores.
