A part of me wants it to happen. If it did, the entire graphics hype for every game after would be brought down with a simple "remember Crysis".
Still, that would rob me of actually enjoying the game.
If if the gameplay in Crysis is weak and it does not get a high score it won't really matter.
What Crysis will do regardless of score is set new standards for graphics. sound and presentation for PC gaming, in this case the engine is more important than the game.
Its being hyped more for its technical merits than its gameplay.
However, based on Far Cry, and seeing as how Far Cry and Crysis are very similar in concept (and the same developers), I don't think there is much to worry about in terms of the game being "bad".

If Crysis is ANYTHING like Far Cry, I will despise it. Seriously. I bought a new GPU just to play that game, and I was so bitterly disappointed that I vowed to never fall fora game simply because it looked prettyagain.

Are you serious? Far Cry was amazing, not just with its technical aspects but with everything. It was one of few (And I mean few) games I actually played on PC. I wouldn't even play Half-Life 2, but the draw of Far Cry was too much, and I loved it. Alot.

Oh, the first half hour was great for me. Then, the mutants were introduced, the horrid powers came into play, and it ALL went to hell.

I see. I liked the powers and such, but I would have prefered it to be guns and humans the whole way. I see your point and why that could turn some people off.
You might be out of luck on Crysis then, because doesn't it involve aliens?

wait? half an hour till the mutants and horrid powers? You talking about Instincts or Far Cry?
Nah... it won't do a Doom 3. That was off the charts.
It will be like a "Oh Darn..... hey look it's Far Cry 2!" type thing.
It's not like Halo 3 where all Hell will break open and people die etc.

Yea, tbh UT3 has the highest chance of doing a Doom 3 on us.
I would be disapointed if it flopped, but then again its the same month as UT3/Mass Effect/CoD4/Hellgate London/Assasins Creed ... so I will be busy either way :D

Well, that shows how much you know about Far Cry or Crysis
Bu..But teh pc has teh higher standards:cry: Pc,7.0=Console,10.0:cry:SpaceDragonManActually its more like PC 8.9 = Console 9.3-5 or about. Thats a little more realistic.
Well, that shows how much you know about Far Cry or Crysis

Yes, how DARE I have a different opinion than you? If I don't like the same things you do, then I MUST be ignorant. Brilliant. :|
Nor did I say that Far Cry would be like Crysis. Read. Sometimes I am ASHAMED to be a PC gamer. They expect everyone to like the same things they do, it seems.

You aren't even talking about the PC version of Far Cry, thats the reason I said that. I don't have a problem with you having different opinions

Try playing the PC version, not the ones on consoles. It is quite hard to be ashamed to be aPC gamer over a game you played on your xbox. Its being hyped more for its technical merits than its gameplay.

Doom 3 anyone?
Just look at the System wars history sticky to see both what happened to one of the hermits biggest hyped games, and what happened when it flopped.
Some games you can just tell that they won't disapoint.Crysis is one of them.
BatmanBegins24
This is very true.
As in a sub-AAA score?
Won't happen, so there's no point in speculating ;)
The game looks amazing in every single aspect.

Doubt it. Unlike Doom 3, almost all the real games that has used the UT3 engine has turned out good so far.
Rainbow Six: Vegas - 9.1
Gears of War - 9.6
Bioshock - 9.0
All at or above 9.0.

That's what they said about Doom :?
Heh, who's "they?"
There were quite a few nay-sayer hermits leading up to its floppage from what I remember (though many were indeed hyping it.) I particularly recall many Half-Life fanboys were saying it would flop.
And Doom 3 didn't look amazing in the area of gameplay unless you are a survival/horror fan. That isn't the case with Crysis ;)

crysis isnt a linear coridor shooter....
its also made by crytek (farcry got a 9.2.)

I agree 100%[QUOTE="XenogearsMaster"]If it flops, then it won't be the new "graphics king."
horrowhip
So getting a bad score makes a game look worse? That made no sense.
System Wars logic module #56A-2: "People can say random crap and it's true because they said so"
ie: Potatoes are equal in strength to the Wii because they are both plastic. This is now true.

.....id Soft was the Crytek of the early 2000's. Fresh from awesome games like Quake 3 Team Area, people were expecting big things. It's not like they didn't do anything with Doom 3. They had some pretty revolutionary things for the time like Rag Doll Physics, Dynamic Lighting, and DX9 graphics--much like Crysis with it's DX10 graphics, tree rendering, tree physics/physics all together. And about the corridor thinggy... well... it was the norm back then, just like how open worlds have now become the norm.

open worlds have not become the norm.....
list the open, sandbox FPS's that are coming out this year.
I can think of 2.....Bioshock and STALKER.
back when doom 3 was released....every FPS out there was a coridor shooter....with the exception of ironiclly, farcry.
