There's been a lot of talk about backwards compatibility for the upcoming systems. I was just curious to know how often people actually play their previous gen systems and games. This gen, I barely did. Only console that comes to mind is my Wii U, in which I played Twilight Princess HD and Tokyo Mirage Sessions. I also played my 3DS a bunch of times. But overall, I didn't really play much previous gen stuff. How about you, SW? How often do you play previous gen systems and games?

All the time. In fact, I just received a copy of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter for my OG Xbox the other day. I didn’t even know it existed. I actually like it better than the 360 version because there’s less multitasking and it’s a different game. When the Xbox Live mod comes out, I’ll be playing a lot of the Tom Clancy games online. Halo 2 for Zombies mode that isn’t possible on MCC? Sign me up!

I also regularly revisit my Atari 7800, GameCube, Xbox 360, and Vectrex as well.

If you only play relevant consoles, you really miss out on a rich history of gaming and some awesome games!

Historically I'm a huge retrogamer. Playing through Icewind dale right now, but haven't done much retrogaming lately due to a ton of current games I want to finish

All the dame time when PC is the ultimate BC thus making my gaming life so much easier and simple is another reason I enjoy replaying retro games. Past consoles such as N64, GC, PS3 you name it, I'll sometimes plug my old consoles and play that game I cannot play on PC or anywhere else but on that console to play a certain game such as Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3.

Before getting into The Last of Us Part II, I went through Uncharted 1 through 3 and The Last of Us 1.

I from time to time play PSP or Vita games on Vita or play the 3DS. would like to revisit PS3 jrpg that I somehow never Platinumed. Some of them is just bullshit like obtain all item in FF13 but can't be bothered to plug the PS3. Hope PS5 have backwards feature for PS3 cause if it dont then RIP FF13 and Lightning returns you will be the only FF on Playstation I never Platinumed.

I mostly play retro stuff. Spend less money that way. Just recently got Skate 2 and Need for Speed: Nitro.

I'm more of a contemporary gamer. I get most games around launch time. Once I'm done, I either sell or keep it if I really liked it. There are some retro games that I keep that I still want to play. For example, still want to play Silent Hill 2 on PS2. I also have Chrono Trigger for DS. But overall, most of the games I play are current gen. There are already enough games to play lol. When someone says they are going to wait 2-3 years to get the next gen console, I think they're nuts. I would be behind on so many games. It would be piling up lol.

All the freaking time. In fact just around 5 days ago I stopped playing Freespace 2. Was visiting Wing Commander series before that. Made a tribute trailer for wing 3 (1994) after finishing the whole thing again.

So yeah, pretty satisfying to visit classics every now and then.

I'm playing some classics that I missed out on originally, e.g. KOTOR. And I am still playing the hell out of certain games that I have completed many times, e.g. Dragon Age 1 & 2. I might also give the first Splinter Cell game a retry soon.

I enjoy backwards compatibilty very much on my xbox one x . This is one area where Sony could definitely improve. Why can't I just insert a PS3 game in my PS4 and play it?

I play older games here and there from time to time. As BC becomes more commonplace amongst the consoles I’ll probably play them more because it’s so much easier to play a bit of some random classic then to have to hook up an old console again.

From time to time but rarely games I’ve played before. I usually dip back to broaden my versed knowledge of classics or dark horse hits, though I have gone back to add trophies to my collection solely for the sake of it.

i do this more often on pc because of it''s better backwards compatibility support, while consoles i kinda pack away the older generation console and focus on new one.

Probably spend roughly 50% of my gaming time replaying games I've already beaten.

A lot. Not so much on the older systems themselves, but the games yes. Whether it's BC, ports, remasters, "collections", emulators for ancient ass games, etc.

Some of it's just wanting to revisit an oldie for nostalgia, or to see how I'd feel about it now. But a lot of its just classics that never get old to me, still great games that are fun to replay.

Sometimes. I'm the type of person who bought all "mini" consoles, including NES, SNES, Genesis, NeoGeo, and TurboGrafx16, because of nostalgia. I'm going to buy that stupid GameGear Micro(s) as well.

A lot, actually. Right now I'm playing TR3 on the PS3, and after that I'm probably going to jump into Parasite Eve on PS1, though I might play it on the PS3 too. My NES/SNES/Genesis Minis also get a lot of use, especially lately. Not too long ago I played through the original Secret of Mana. And I regularly play old school shmups.

Not much lately. Got enough new games I like to keep me busy. Played a bit of Wind Waker on Wii U, that's about it.

I never play last-gen games unless they are remastered for current gen. My Ps2 was BC with PS1 but I never used that feature. my PS3 was BC with BOTH PS1 and PS2... and I NEVER used that feature either.

However, if PS5 natively runs PS4 games in 4K/60 (no remaster required) I would replay almost all of my recent games (Death Stranding, God of War, Last of Us 2, Red Dead II, Final Fantasy VII, etc)

it also be cool if you could pop in a PS3 game and and the PS5 just runs it in 8K/120hz

Depends on my mood. I can go weeks or a month without doing so, but I'll have the itch to play contra, castlevania, or Streets of Rage every now and then and play them for a few hours.

BC to me is more for collectors, it's always nice having a newer piece of hardware to play older games, since old hardware can fail, and in some cases gets hard to find

I am more of a retro arcade gamer than retro console gamer, alto from time to time i would boot FF tactics or breath of fire 2 for Snes or 3 and 4 for PS1.

Every now then. I have most of my old consoles hooked up, and I always replay my favorite games, like Sonic and Mega Man, at least a few times per year.
