How can Sony improve the PS4?

Sony has done most things right with the PS4, however there are still some issues and there's always room for improvement. Here are the things I think they should do.

Revive old franchises - Crash and Medievil are good but I'd make full remakes or sequels for some of the old franchises like Ape Escape or Wild Arms etc.

Quality control - No more shit games like DriveClub, Knack or The Order

More secure PSN - They need to put all that money they make from PSN to make it more secure

Backwards Compatibility - It's probably impossible for PS3 BC, but It'd be easy for them to implement PS2/PS1 BC via emulator, PS3 had PS1 BC, so why is it not on PS4?

More games - I know they have tons of 1st party games already, but more is better, I'd like to see AAA Jrpg, racer and multiplayer games. I think that's what they lack.

Backwards compatability is all they need for me.

The number one reason for me is backwards compatibility. I don't think it is going to be done with this console generation, but I believe that the PS5 will have backwards compatibility with PS4 games.

I would argue that there is no problem with the "shit games" they put out. When you manage to put out a ton of exclusives, having a few not so great ones is totally acceptable. Not everything you put out can be amazing. There are plenty of duds in the music, movie, and book industry. Backwards compatibility is definitely one I agree with. I have ZERO interest in subscribing to PS Now so that I can play games I already own. I would love a PS4 controller that had replaceable batteries like the Xbox One. The PS4 controller I currently use is borderline permanently wired now. Its ridiculous.

True BC and more stable PSN. Some more media features for the PS4 would be nice.

--Stop focusing so much on movie games. If you look at their biggest upcoming games, it's pretty much all movie games. I'd like to see more games from them that focus more on the gameplay and less on the cinematics.

--Offer backwards compatibility.

--Either improve PSN to get it up to the same quality as Xbox Live or if you can't match their quality, charge less for it.

Keep improving VR quality in games and Youtube for the Pro. Some previous patches have helped Youtube VR quality, but it is not as good as it could be. The headset is 1080p quality capable, if I am correct, and some things are not quite there yet.

Obviously the fact they don't care about MP stands out. I appreciate Shawn Layden recognizes their strength is sp narrative games but they are charging for MP.

I don't care too much about reviving old stuff. They do well bringing new games.

The network isn't as bad as the teasing we do in SW but it could use more work.

Overall It's a great system Imo.

^ ^ This would be nice, and while they are at it they should add VR support into the web browser. It sucks having to rely on apps to watch VR content all the time.

There are literally zero 4K movie streaming apps on my PS4 Pro, after the debacle of not including 4k disc drive. Pretty much going to have to go with a Apple 4K box for films.

Improve PSN and backwards compat. Revive some old past gen multiplayer games like socom, motorstorm, warhawk/starhawk, Twisted Metal, Killzone and Resistance. Finally, get some 1P working on some multiplayer/co-op games.

Someone was watching how on my XB1 I can suspend game, open video apps, and resume game at exact point I left off, said he can't do that on PS4 (I have one too but never tried), was surprised, they should allow for that if possible.

Also, a library management system on par with what XB1 has is a must, download histories are not even close to cutting it, such a system too would help promote digital sales.

Having a rewards system like XBL has with rebates would be nice. I get 10% back on all my Gold Rewards purchases.

Backwards compatibility. Sure PS3 game BC is out of the question but the PS1 and PS2 classics should be doable. Any purchased on the users PSN accounts on PS3 should carry over. Sony would of course have to negotiate BC I imagine same way MS does. I feel they are too committed to pushing the streaming thing though, they should reconsider.

Auto-syncing trophies and cloud saves, works great on XB1.

Larger fans for new SKUs, larger fans, better ventilation, that would make systems quietter, cooler.

Better account security, and better recourse for hacked accounts to reverse purchases made on those accounts. The horror stories I've heard have stopped me from doing any digital purchasing on PSN this gen.

Improve the GPU performance by an additional 1.8 teraflops.

Increase RAM by another 4GB.

Add a 4K UHD optical drive.

Network Security

get a good controller make some real games

Release actual games for it, not just interactive movies. Platformers, open world RPGs, action games with actual action (like Bloodborne, SotC), etc.

Unfortunately, I don't expect a shift in their development strategy. With most gamers being casuals, movie games tend to sell extremely well, and they don't cost a whole lot to produce.

I don't care about multiplayer on consoles (consoles don't even come close to the competitiveness of multiplayer gaming on PC), so lack of MP games isn't a concern for me.

Make a new Wild Arms game!

Bring back zipper interactive, those guys made clanky mp games but when you think about it they built psn with SOCOM and stuff like MAG. They could have thrived in the current mp market. Sony is in great position but they have decptively bank on pure winners only and not trying things on mp side. I get they take a look at monster hunter reported 70% sales on ps4 and think that all they need but come on. Its time for them to contribute on psn sub success themselves and with that try new mp games.

Nothing. Just keep coming out with good games. I know some people say BC but that is the very lat thing I ever care about!

• Better cooling - the PS4 runs loud and hot
• Make PSN work well and fix the download speeds
• Make the devs provide a 60fps option for all games
• Allow for back compatibility with PS1 and PS2
• Make a version of the DS4 that doesn't run the battery down in 4 hours
• Help Naughty Dog see the light and go back to making 3D action platformers
• Add a UHD reader and offer a version with no disc reader
• Stop holding good games hostage with exclusive deals
• Allow for free online play in games that don't require Sony to actually hosts the server
• Generally just be more consumer friendly

Ability to change PSN names. I couldn't care less about backwards compatibility, I don't buy new systems to play old games.

I'd like digital purchases from the ps3 (at least the ps1 games) to carry over. Name changes would be good too.

I just want to see remakes of a few games that would look much better by taking full advantage of the hardware like Heart of Darkness, Dark Cloud, Brave Fencer Musashi, and The Legend of Dragoon. A Xenogears remake or a new Twisted Metal would probably be pretty dope too tbh

Outside of having a time machine to fix their screw ups id say they cant. They should have made the pro more powerful when they had the chance. The graphical upgrades are laughable compared to the X. And fix the stupid fan. Loud as hell.

This plus a controller with better battery life and improve PSN.

4K would be nice like MSoft has in games like Overwatch.

Also why are people asking for upgrades hardware wise to the PS4? What the hell is the Pro for?

How about everybody stops making their consoles so small? It's dumb. There's barely any room for ventilation. I shake my head at console gamers who care more about looks.

I would say free multiplayer and PSN name changes and region changes, but both of my accounts were stolen while I wasn't using them for a few years, so whatever. I don't want another PlayStation.

Sure improvements are welcome on every aspect...

But don't dismiss things because of your tastes...I love Driveclub and the Order, and my daughter enjoys Knack a lot.

Less of a choice is never an improvement ^^

Yeah, I think backwards compatiblity would be one of the most important things. And if they cant do BC, atleast put more PS2 games on the store.
