I ask this due to people always claiming XBL is too expensive, say $5 a month. So I just thought it would be interesting to see what the price difference is in peoples broadband.

$45/month for 6mbps DL and 1mbps UL.

I made up for it by switching to VOIP. My phone bill went from $150/month to $30/month, so it pays for itself.

nobody's claiming it is to expensive.

We just don't want to pay M$ to use our internet connections.

I'm supposed to be on 5mb but here in the UK most of our internet and phoneline structure is copper wire based not fibre optic, and its snowing here. Plus my sister is also using the internet.

I'm not paying MS to use my internet, I'm paying them to use their Xbox live servers that I connect when I turn my 360 on.. whatever servers it takes for the games to connect me to other gamers. $5 a month is plenty for me... Why pay Blizzard to use my internet playing WoW?

Very true and I was going to state that prior to seeing that you had.

However, you can get free anti-virus software or to get better protected, you can spend $40 on it. Same with XBL if you believe that you get a better service and additional features are worth the annual fee.

Thanks for all those that answered, the results were quite interesting.

Next question you should ask TC is, "how many people actually pay, out of their own pocket for BROADBAND?" I bet few do on these boards since many are still living with parents. I find it funny that some of these people also complain about XBOX live costing too much. When their parents probably just said no when asked. That's why there are some fakeboys on here, to vent their bottled up hate towards such a dumb move by MS.

About 50 euro a month i think. I get like 700 kb/s down, about 60 up or so.
I'm not talking about what they advertise with, cause that's always way higher.
You could also ask who smokes. Smoking is very expensive too.
I don't even have a car or license (little too insecure), and i don't mind drinking water. So i save lots of money automatically i guess.

~$40/month. 12 Megabits downstream. (Really wish FiOS was available in my area.)

On top of that, I pay $12/month for premium Usenet access (for my x264 fix), and I'll sometimes subscribe to Xbox Live for very short periods of time when something catches my interest. This very rarely happens, as there's very little worthwhile content provided by the service. Even at $6/month, XBL is simply not worth it.
