Hideo Konami visits Valve (Death Stranding?)

Former Metal Gear Solid person at Valve HQ. Just a friendly visit or something more substantial?

Hideo Kojima and Gabe Newell are responsible for the two biggest missing threes in videogames: Half-Life 3 and chapter three of Metal Gear Solid V. That’s where the similarities would seem to end, but now the two have met in person, and Kojima’s even provided photographic evidence of his visit to the Valve offices.

“Visited Valve,” Kojima tweets. “Took pic with Gabe.“ That pic sees Kojima giving the thumbs-up and Newell showing a peace sign, as appropriate to the post-Peace Walker lore of Metal Gear. One thumb plus two fingers? That’s a three. Kojima also provided two other photos, showing the big valve and Atlas robot at the company’s office. That makes three photos.

That’s all the evidence anyone needs to say Half-Life 3 or chapter three confirmed – at least jokingly. In realistic terms, Kojima has been meeting with game developers and entertainment companies while posting selfies on Twitter ever since departing Konami, and this is just another stop on that world tour. In the past few days alone Kojima has stopped by Pixar and Infamous developer Sucker Punch.

It is notable, though, that many of Kojima’s public game studio tours have been at studios adjacent to Sony, the company which is publishing Death Stranding. Kojima meeting with the top distributors of PC games is something sure to raise some eyebrows, though we’re a long way from anything resembling confirmation of new Kojima titles as upcoming PC games.

They probably met to discuss bringing Death Stranding to Steam... not for Kojima to direct Half-Life 3.

Kojima is probably asking Gabe if he can bring Death Stranding to PC which would make sense cause at one point, Kojima had plans to port Death Stranding to PC before it became PS4 exclusive.

I thought Death Stranding was confirmed for PC a long time ago, just not Steam specifically.

It was listed, then not. Some leaks suggested it was a timed delay.

but death stranding is own by sony. its using sony engine so not possible. other than kojima is fan of PC gaming and he can bring his next game to PC.

That means Kojima is really screwed because Gabe is unwilling to fund Half-Life 3 - a game guaranteed to generate hundreds of millions, no way in hell he will fund whatever edgy crap Kojima comes up with. :P

Sony does not own the Death Stranding IP. Some of you should really read up on trademark and publishing laws in the US and EU.

"Contrary to popular belief, registering the trademark is not an equivalent to owning the IP, which is dictated by contract among the parts involved. What it does show, is that Sony is very involved with Kojima Productions’ new game, possibly taking care of all the bureaucratic elements in order to let the team focus on creating a great game."

Maybe Valve can announce a Half Life mobile game.

That event and this game look about the same. Boring, and a convoluted mess of dafuq is that.

Could be 'technically' true however not in practice. Never in the industry it has happened when a trademark is owned by someone else and the IP by a different entity, like never. If Sony wanted to shield KOjima from the bureaucratic procedures they could have applied on behalf of Kojima Pro, in reality that's how trademarks are usually filed via some agency.

A trademark only protects the name, a copyright protects the game code, there are others that make up a IP depending on what it is. You can own a IP but without the rest you have very little protection.

I should know because I had several software copyrights but didn't trademark the names. You have to send in two complete copies of the code and money to receive a copyright.

Only way to make you look like a fast game making developer is to sit next towards gaben.

So it makes sense.
