So you may have seen my Oblivion topic a week or so back. And yes, I did in fact decide to give it a shot despite how just plain bad a lot of it is. And I'm about 13 hours in and I realize that I've run into a very annoying and frustrating glitch.
So I decided to take on the Nights of the Nine quests (being a low level, I needed some good armor). And after the quest a woman named Avita asks to join me. Now here's the thing - I'm permaently stuck with her due to a glitch.
Now you're probably wondering, hey, Bad-School-Girl, what the heck is so bad about that? You get a parter out of it!
The problem stems from actually going into combat. It's damn near impossible to not hit teamates during combat, especially melee which my character specializes in currently. And when you hit certain allies, they will retaliate AGAINST you and start attacking you until you wait about a day or pay a fine from the gaurds if you're within city bounds. And that's exactly the problem I have with said follow.
Not all followers are this agressive to accidental hitting them in combat, Brother Martin never attacked me despite the amount of times I've accidentally whacked him in the nut sack with my mace. But Avita always will attack me if I as much as hit her with my weapon ONCE.
This makes the game very stressful. Now there's another thing - the armor you get from the Knights of the Nine quests becomes UNWEARABLE if you do too many "bad" actions. And well hitting an ally in combat counts as one.
I am up to the point where if I Avita just ONCE MORE in combat, my armor becomes UNWEARABLE and I would have to do the annoying pilgramage quest AGAIN. Which involves going to 7 (or 9) shrines and praying at them. They're all scattered around the world, and you CANNOT fast travel to them individually.
As for fixes? The only known way to fix this on consoles it to DELETE the KoTN add on and redownload it. This, however, takes away anything you earned from the questline. And it wasn't even fun.
On top of that, Avita isn't even a good follower. She doesn't attack certain types of enemies due to her alignment.
She's also considered an "essential" charater, therefore I cannot kill her. She just goes unconcious and is back up in no time.
I can't deal with this game anymore. It honestly wasn't that fun in the first place, and an annoying glitch like this makes it so much more stressful and annoying. And there's only one fix which involves deleting hours of my gameplay. I think my time is better spent elsewhere than playing Oblivion.
Anyone else ever had an experince like this in a game that makes you want to stop playing it completely?
