Halo's Overrated!!!!!!!!!

For those of you who are part of the "Halo is overrated casual trash" camp, I direct you to exibits A and B.

Exibit A: Gamerankings Halo: Combat Evolved page http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/472132.asp

On this page note at the top the 96% overall rating (actually a 95.6%) based on the average score of 92 different media reviews that are only from sources deemed credible by Gamerankings. Also note that Halo CE is rated as the 9th best game of all time based on the average scores calculated by Gamerankings. Remember that these aren't user scores, they are scores taken from sources that are deemed credible, such as websites and magazines. I would also direct you to the identical 9.7's (97%)given to Halo: CE by both IGN and Gamespot, considered as two of the most credible review sources.

Also on this page we can note many similar features to exibit A. We see that across 112 media outlets Halo 2 averaged a score of 95% (actually a 94.6%), including a 9.4 (94%)from GS and a 9.8 (98%)from IGN. Also we can note that it is rated as the 21st best game of all time. Now I can't stress this enough, these average scores are calculated only using sites deemed credible. We can also note that IGN (which many SW forum users deem more reliable than GS) actually scored Halo 2 much higher than the average. Also of interest is that despite the number of people who are convinced GS is biased, IGN has actually rated Halo 2 higher, and the average is technically higher than the GS score.

So what do these exibits show? That professional writers in the gaming industry believe that Halo CE and Halo 2 are two of the finest games ever made. While everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinion as to whether or not Halo CE and Halo 2 are good games, it is both futile and illogical to say that either Halo game is overrated considering how a huge pool of reviews can score it so high, particularily when two of the industries leading sources of reviews are close to the average, or even higher than the average in the case of Halo CE. The point is, there is no proof to support the theory that either Halo game is overrated.

I agree that Halo: Combat Evolved is not overrated at all. It was fully deserving of the praise it got. After all, all of this hype had to have come from somewhere.

I've always thought both Halos were very fair at the Heroic difficulty. Saying they are too easy is a bit strange by me because Legendary is a complete b****, especially in Halo 2 were its more unfair then anything.

i personally think halo 2 has be dethroned as the let down xbox franchise. gears holds the honour.

Halo is great for console's, but not for PC's

becouse for the PC we just have much better shooters, so the bar is much higher for PC

Overrated and trash are two completely different things. Trash means the game is bad which is obviously stupid and not worth arguing with. Overrated is the fact that Halo 3 is by far and away the most hyped game of the year and may be the most hyped game of all time. Some people say it's an amazing game, but compared to the coverage of other great games like MP3, it's too much. I don't agree. I'm caught in the hype.manningbowl135

I finished Farcry on medium with adaptive AI, it was tough but I did it. However it took me and my friend 2 hours in co-op on Legendary to finish the first intro level of Halo CE (XBOX version). Halo is easier on the PC because of M&K.

Ita about time someone voiced this. Halo 2 was still good, but not as good as Halo CE

Halo1 was amazing for its time, and still is a good game...Halo2 was trash, and the only good thing about it was multiplayer :? mgreener_34

I understand people saying the first Halo had a better campaign, but calling halo 2 "trash" is just letting everyone know you either didn't play the game, or have nothing but the first Halo to compare it to b/c compared to the rest of the console shooters Halo 2 is still far superior to most.

I think there isa reason why Halo 2 is so highly rated and I think an even more obvious reason why so many people call the Halo franchise "overrated trash"all the time, it's called fanboyism and unrealistic expectations.

I spent a bunch of money on my PC to play Doom 3 and Half life 2, and while HL2 was at least good, neither came close to my expectations. I had too high expectations for Halo 2 as well, but it's still a good game in it's own right, it just wasn't the second coming like so many were foolish enough to believe.

overrated is only an opinion anyhow. anyone who doesn't like a game can say it's overrated, but that ONLY means it is overrated to them, not that it being overrated is a fact.
