Best lighting seen on a console.

The strong point of Halo 3 lighting is in the effects you can create with the in-game items, such as plasma grenades, power drainers and the latest effect bubbles you can place in the game to change the look of it. Here's a pic I took in game when I was forging a map variant of Ghost Town.

I suggest you watch the halo 3 intro, a perfect example of it's lighting.

My favorite this gen, total game package - Halo 3 - so easy on the eyes with vibrancy & color.

Not the best " technically " but for me, the best looking game this gen.when measured against all Bungie stuffed into this game.

Almost as much bloom as in Oblivion...

That doesn't mean its good though..

I try to find some fun in video games and I think that these trophies are going one step too far. I pity the cow that cannot take a step back, look at how devoted they are to a trphey system and be satisfied with their life. If you are one who has enough time to continue an RPG in an RPG, so be it, but I personally have more to live for than a level that will be irrelevant in 5 years.

anyways, the best lighting? hardly. good lighting? yup.

i always liked halo 3's graphics. while not something to WOW about. if you look closely, everything is nicely detailed and textured..unlike Call of Duty 4 which is the opposite. Everything is nice and pretty until you look closer and you begin to see all the pixels and jagged edges..

funny...when I play Halo 3, the thing I notice the most is how weak the lighting is compare to quite a few other games out there

Crysis destroys everything. I dont know why posters dont just put a disclaimer in any future graphical comparisons acknowledging that Crysis obviously wins.

While Halo 3 isn't the most graphically impressive game, the lighting here doesn't look that particulalry impressive tbh.

Crytek found one of the secrets to photo realism is not just textures, normal maps and polygons but lighting. Lighting plays a big part in photo-realism so their updated Cryengine 2 comes with improved lighting.

This new lighting is one of the many improvements that will contribute towards Crysis: Warhead. So when people ask which game has the best lighting, I expect it will be this one.

But Crysis doesnt look that polished, compared to some games like HL2:EP2, and Bioshock. (its graphically better then both)

And most graphis cards can hardly run the game with AAx2, high, at 1440x900 at a frame rate greater then 25.
