I think mine is between the XSX and PS5 controllers. Ergonomically, XSX controller fits perfectly in my hands. The PS5 controller is a little bit wider but has better features. So I give the edge to Sony.

How about you, SW? Greatest controller of all time in your opinion?

I haven't held the XSX controller, but knowing that its still using 80's technology known as AA batteries, there's no way it can be superior to the DualSense. Its time to upgrade your rech, Microsoft. Your Duracell contract has expired long time ago.

I’ve had the XSX controller for awhile now and find it to easily be the most comfortable controller for me. Right now I would say that it’s my favourite so far. I really love the asymmetrical layout for the sticks and the triggers feel very good. The dpad works quite well also. I still need to try the PS5 Dual Sense though.

I did both the SX and PS5 controllers, but from what I've used I'd give the edge to PS5's.

DualSense because I really like the DualSense haptic feedback and games that makes use of it really enhances the experience. Hopefully GT7 will make great use of it and I do hope those feedback and adaptivr trigger makes its way to the new racing wheels.

But I do think that if Xbox controller have that, it probably will replace the dual sense as my fav.

Brah, people already have rechargable batteries for other uses. It's not a big deal.

Most of the post gen 6 standard controllers are interchangeable to me, but given the choice, prefer the Elite 2.

2d/retro stuff, hard preference for the Saturn pad all day.

Arcade sticks have seemingly infinite factors, but out the box, think Qanba Dragon is my fav.

@SolidGame_basic: Overall I'd probably say the Switch pro. As it's the only full sized wireless controller i've ever owned that I've had zero issues with.

DS4 - usb micro B cable is finicky, and randomly disconnects just because you shifted a bit on the couch.

Xbox bluetooth controller - I use it on PC, so this may speak more to how crappy Bluetooth management still is within windows. I've literally tried multiple of this same controller, on 4 different PCs, and without fail, they all randomly disconnect/reconnect every 5-10 minutes. extremely annoying.

I'm now using a Wired Xbox elite controller (with the optional 4 triggers on the bottom), and I love it. Some things are better wireless, but imo, controllers aren't one of them. I'd much rather deal with a cable now than bluetooth/wireless issue.

@appariti0n: the dpad on the Switch Pro Controller is garbage. Bought the 8bitdo dongle to connect other controllers to the Switch.

@sakaixx: Is it? I admit I haven't really used it for any games that require extensive use of the Dpad.

I chose it because it appears to be the best of both worlds from Xbox and PS4.

Internal rechargeable battery, but with good battery life. Too bad it doesn't work with PC/Steam games.

Xbox Elite 2. Though I wish it allowed us to choose which batteries we could use like the Xbox Elite 1. I hate that we are not given choice in the Elite 2 just like the dated PS controllers, where you have no choice and the dumpster fire battery life in the PS controllers are straight out of the 70s. Horrid. Even worse, Sony charges $10 more for their POS controller, with dismal battery life and no choices. And the quality of the new DS is utter garbage. It reminds me of this scene from Christmas Vacation everytime I use the controller...

Hard to say for me. i like an interesting controller...something that open up some doors for developers. the standard controller is fine but a bit boring at this stage imho.

Last gen the Steam controller was really the state of the art. Its flexibility was really something else. it did have some ergonomic issues though. Hopefully Valve can sort the nonsense out with Scuff and take another crack at it. A good first attempt but room for improvement.

Functionally the PS2 controller pretty much set the standard for a very long time. it still holds today (the xbox controller is basically the same from a functionality standpoint. different ergonomics of course) so its probably one of the most important controllers ever made.

but yeah i can't really think of a controller that has really nailed everything. i would like to see more daring designs and tech that is designed to make more modern games shine. the ol traditional is showing its age.

so....mouse and keyboard. greatest controller of all time :D.

I am thinking of getting a series x controller the coming black friday. Most likely gonna store the dual sense on top of it just to show its superiority and deminance.

Give the 8bitdo controllers a try. Its a really good and cheap alternative compared to the pro controller. The pro controller dpad have weird input lag and ghost input. For games that only need small input like for menu or quick item slot its fine but if you play competitively it sucks. Other than that its actually a pretty grear controller, battery last for a while too.

Probably Xbox 360's.

I have never used the new Series controller, and barely used Xbox One's one, but i think that the 360 controller design was almost perfect. PS4 and PS5 ones are also great...much better than previous DSs. For some reason i still love the simplicity of Nes and Snes controllers too.

The Duke. OG Xbox controller.

Fantastic for its time.

Plus you could K.O. intruders with it. Or stick it behind the wheel of your car to stop it from rolling down hill. Or tie it to a chain and use it as a boat anchor.

Legendary.

The Xbox controllers have always felt more natural than the dualshocks. I've spent length time with each as many of you have.

I'd always chose the Xbox controller over sonys given a choice.

I was also fond of the NES Advantage as a kid... (I had the snes advantage as well)

I think the SNES controller is still the very best for 2D gaming but right now the best for modern games is the XSX controller IMO.

Dualsense? Though the adaptive triggers are fun, I can never get used to the thumb stick layout. The trackpad is useless, as is the gyro. Battery life is awful again, and I wouldn’t swap that option for my Eneloops which last 30 odd hours.

The elite 2 is my idea of a perfect controller….apart from the price. So if price doesn’t come into it, elite 2 gets my vote.

The way the XSX controller sits in your hand feels absolutely perfect. I feel like its cradled instead of me actually carrying it.

Look forward to trying the dual sense ps5 controller, but I have never cared about vibrations, and resistant triggers do not sound great.

The HORI commander is my favorite d-pad I have every used... an excellent fight pad. HORI makes the best D-pads in the business.

RAZER switches always feel great.

First it has to be said that no controller is acceptable for shooters, unless there is a boat load of aim assist, but the dualshock 4 controller is probably the best, though I would be happy with only the xbox controller as well.

What a compelling argument you've made... Lol

Remember how cheap the ps4 dualshock was with its cheap rubber thumb grips? Doesn't get much more cheap feeling than that hunk of junk.

Valve Index controllers

A good HOTAS setup (I like my X-56 Rhino throttle and stick combo)

My XB1 for everything else. Might get a steering wheel later 'cause I've been enjoying the racing genre due to FH5.

@appariti0n: yes that is the one! I bought the earlier model the SN30 pro+ I think its called. Lots of nintendo centric sites gave it and the pro2 glowing reviews. Dpad is really good for 2d games and buttons feels right. If you like the classic Snes layout they have the "SN30 Pro" model. Good purchase if you into playing 2d games and fighting games.

I got mutant, monster hands so OG Xbox and Genesis MK-1650 has always been mine.

I like the shape of the dual sense, but the symetrical stick layout has always bothered me. Also not a fan of glossy finishes for controllers. Smudge magnets.

I've got to hand it the PS5 DualSense. Not only is it the most comfortable PS controller I've held, I also LOVE the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. If only Xbox had that functionality.

Dualsense with its haptic feedback hands down
