My Take:

Seriously, why do we compare these two games so much?

Sure, they are in the same genre, but both PD and Turn 10 have a different vision of what makes a true racing sim.

Gran Turismo is all about the variety, diversity and quantity of the content and how it's presented. GT has always been about making the racing sim genre appeal to the mass audience.

Forza Motorsport is about the things you can do with that content and the ability to customize it, and share it with others. It's more about expressing yourself through the automobile.

Two very different apporaches to what a racing sim should be.

All of you guys talk about physics and graphics. Many of you claim FM3 has better physics while GT has better graphics.

Better how? You provide no numbers or any proof that one is truly better than the other.

It is all is about preference.

And does that really matter?

And when you say Forza is an AAA franchise while GT is AA...

Come on now, really? We all know why Prologue scored a 7.5.

Just take a look at the GS review (or pretty much any other review for that matter).

Both GT and Forza are great games.

Both have their pros and cons.

It just depends on what YOU look for in a racing sim.

The graphics are a draw between, the games, and what? You are saying FM3 doesn't have quality or quantity 400 cars is more than enough, also some hard core sim racing fans have even stated that forza is better, in some of the reviews aswell.

This whole debate between these two games is the Forza side talking about what has been announced for their game vs the opinoins and emotions of the GT side. We don't know much about the GT5 game so I don't even understand why people make so many claims for or against GT5 at this point.

It's great that...... "now" .......you agree they both are "racing" sims......but why did you not take that stance on the other occasions we have talked about it?

As both a gamer and car/auto racing enthusiasts I'm compelled to voice my honest opinion. First of all, both franchises are amazing and do what they do best. That said Forza being exclusive to the XBOX and Gran Turismo the PlayStation, comparison is inevitable, let alone them being of the same genre. I do believe, however, Turn 10 and Polyphony Digital aren't set out to accomplish 100% of the same goals. Forza Motorsport has always stricken me as the perfect balance of simulation and arcade racing. They have the licensed cars, the realistic handling; yes the cars are very real, as is the driving but it's the ridiculous amount of exterior customization and a number of unrealistic tracks that emphasis the more arcade-like factors of the game. During the E3 2009 stage demo, there was mention of tire deformation soon if not right after saying the track featured jumps and was not an ideal place to race professionally.

Gran Turismo on the other hand appears to be strictly simulation. From the license qualifications in the game to real world peripherals like GT Force, the pain staking attention to detail and realism is prevalent throughout the entire experience. As an 1up article put it, "people had no idea what 'camber' meant, but car people were astonished by a game that gave them control over so many machines in such a realistic simulation." There's a lot to be said about both games, but at 1AM I'm not willing to take this any further.
