# Hey guys I thought this would be a good place to discuss which game(s) you thought was most brutally overlooked by Game Informer in their top 300 games of all time?

For me the omission of Streets of Rage 2 (GEN), was the only miss that almost/actually kind of upset me.

Why? Imho, beat-em-ups apexed with SoR2, there has not been a definitively better beat-em-up since it. Now yes, Aliens Vs Predator arcade and TMNT: Turtles in time were and are still phenomenal.
(I view all 3 on equal footing, but since SoR2 was on inferior hardware and came out first, and just seemed to have most of the "it" factor, I name it as my top beat-em-up ever.

Any other omissions or bad placements for you?

On a side note, it was good to see Shining Force II on there, I'm glad it got (some) of the respect it deserves.

P.S. - Yes, I am a grimdark Genesis fanboy.

There were quite a few that didn't make the cut but differing opinions happen regularly. I would have added the following:

  • Uncharted 3 (PS3/4)
  • Jurassic Park (Genesis)
  • Ninja Turtles HH/4 (Gen/SNES)
  • Sonic CD
  • Jurassic Park (Game Gear)
  • Destruction Derby (PS1)
  • Twisted Metal 2 (PS1)
  • Dino Crisis 2 (PS1)
  • Zelda Twilight Princess (GC)
  • Shenmue (DC)

Also, I would have put Uncharted 2 at the top.

Too many new games. Lots of indie garbage.

Would like to see more SNES/Genesis games like Rocket Knight Adventures and Tinhead. Xardion, Skeleton Krew and Aladdin also.

I skimmed the list, but I don’t think I saw Sonic 3 and Sonic/Knuckles. Could be wrong.

MGS4 deserves to be on the list.

Gran Turismo 4 is the best one.

Happy Hot Shots Golf Fore made the list, but I would argue HSG2 was more fun. Mel being a playable character is better than him being a caddy. But I understand why Fore got on the list, it had a great online mode.

GTA5 in number 4 is just a joke.

and yes COD4 always include in every ones top 10. seem like these critics either have bad taste in FPS or they never played any that is not popular or mainstream.

Actraiser was 191... While I'm grateful for its appearance I could list at least 150 games ahead of it that it should've been rated higher than.

Why even make such an absurdly large list? It seems like outside maybe the top 50, ranking of games would become arbitrary.

It's beyond ridiculous. Talk about overrated...

In general I thought that they gave many recent games way more credit than they deserve. I mean, come on, GTA V is the #4 greatest game of all time? Are you kidding me? That's just laughable. It's not even the best GTA game and it won't stand the test of time.

I'm going to focus just on omissions since there are way too many bad placements for me to list. The biggest omissions that stood out to me are:

BurgerTime (Arcade)

Tapper (Arcade)

River Raid (Atari 2600, ColecoVision)

DuckTales (NES)

Aladdin (Genesis)

TMNT: Turtles in Time (SNES, Arcade)

Sunset Riders (SNES, Arcade)

Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES)

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (PC Engine)

Metal Slug 3 (Neo Geo)

Bushido Blade (PS1)

NFL Blitz (PS1, N64, Arcade)

WWF No Mercy (N64)

Star Fox 64 (N64)

Mario Kart 64 (N64)

Perfect Dark (N64)

Crazy Taxi (Dreamcast, Arcade)

Super Monkey Ball (Gamecube)

Just skimmed the top 50 and didn’t see baldurs gate anywhere( as in the game that resurrected the rpg genre and is still directly responsible for a lot in modern rpg games...) and no planscape torment either, which arguably is the best text heavy WRPG ever made..... pass!

@hrt_rulz01: it might be the case. They have COD4 on the list but not No One Lives Forever (1 or 2), those are the PC fps's i recall most fondly.

Ooof. These ones hurt. Perfect Dark is one of the best FPS games ever made, the remake on X360 (bc with XONE also) is so ridiculously good. And Zombies is the cheesiest, goofiest action game ever.

Metroid Prime should be a lot higher and SFII should be in the top 10.

I also feel like Super Mario Kart is way too high on the list.

No Daytona USA is an outrage.

Pretty terrible list. Not sure why people even make these. It's just one person's opinion.

If you want a list of the best games ever, just go to Metacritic or Gamerankings and sort by highest rated all time. These sites aggregate hundreds of reviews per game so the scores are as close to being subjective as it gets.
