Gears of War 2 will EASILY Outsell MGS4

The original Gears of War sold roughly 5.5 million copies (which excludes used copy purchases). People who played the first one at someone elses house or rented it or just want to start playing it will buy the second one as well (people who bought the console after Gears 1 released but never bought the game). Its safe to say that after 2 weeks of its release, Gears 2 will do far better than merely shipping 3 million copies

I don't get what you are trying to demonstrate with your post? That more sales = better?

Gears of War has more of a casual appeal than MGS, so Gears selling more copies shouldn't come as a surprise.

In your OPINION. When are people going to learn that personal preference doesnt equal fact? Personally, Gears 2 will be far, far better to me, but thats only fact FOR ME. Heck, I'm still playing Gears 1!!!

Who cares about sales? You work for MS? I just want a better game...and as long as it stays above a 9.0, it will easily compete with MGS. I'm about 3/5 through MGS had it since release day, just never feel like picking it up to finish.

Sooo many cutscenes, for yet sooo little gameplay. And MGO is a failure so bleh.

It's kind of an unfair comparsion in two respects. One MGS4 releases during one of the slowest sales months of the year for games while Gears 2 is releasing during the busiest shopping season of the year. Gears 2 is a shooter which is more casual....which equal a bigger pool of gamers. I'm telling you right now if MGS4 had released during Nov this year it would have sold a lot more than it did these first two weeks.

Just face it, MGS4 sold better than any Lem had thought possible. I remember a bunch of Lems claiming MGS4 will go mulitplatform because it won't even sale 3 millon over its lifetime.....now it's done that (supposedly) in the first couple of weeks? The thought it could sale a million it's first week was laughable to almost every non-cow. My how things have changed.....specially since Lems are comparing it to the almighty Gears franchise now.

Of course Gears of War 2 will outsell MGS4. GeOW appeals heavily to casuals while MGS, not so much.

The facticity of sales proves nothing more than stock market value. You can't prove that a person buys what he likes. This may seem strange to you, but people buy things to see if they like it or not. There isn't always a presupposition in a consumer purchase.

Well who knows, MGS4 is already out so their selling hundreds of copies everyday and GeOW2 isn't due until sometime later this year.

MGS4 has a lot of time to make massive sales but if Geow2 can beat that in less then a month then I'll be impressed ;)

MGS4 got a 10 out of 10. GEOW2 wont get a 10 out of 10 on GS. MGS4 has a 3 million sales lead over GEARS2 now. GEARS2 is an easy game for young people and cauals so it will sell great. MGS4 is a much more complex game than just shooting and cover. Right now MGS4 sold more and has a 10 rating. Right now GEARS2 cant compete with MGS4 on ANY aspect cause its not released yet!!
