Starcraft: Heart of the Swarm, the RTS that gave birth to E-Sports. It looks like the story this time will be the greatest to date. The trailers were just awesome.

Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm - Vengeance Trailer

Playing an online party of Starcraft should be in everyone´s list of Things to Do Before You Die.

terran_hellbat_04-large.jpg

This game is much better than any League Of Legends or DOTA2. What is more pleasant to watch, a party of LOL or two Koreans playing Starcraft ?

Heart of the Swarm: eSports and Multiplayer

SC Multiplayer is so awesome so my palms sweat like in my first date every time I start a party. The thrilling sense of victory is just the best feeling, it´s just orgasmic.

Even Dwight Schrute loves this game.

frabz-I-LOve-this-game-5410d7.jpg

If I had to choose one game to play in a deserted island I would always have choosen Starcraft (with an online connection, of course XD).

NO D3 POSTS ALLOWED

Otherwise Dwight Schrute will come to your house with his nunchucks and will kick the sh*t out of you.

Starcraft 2 is less popular becuase it´s a much more complex game. But it´s certainly more popular as E-Sport. I watched DOTA/LOL party once, almost fell asleep.

Why compare this to Dota in the first place? I play both games, both are fascinating and complex in their own ways, though I do prefer Dota on the very subjective point of view that I just find it "more fun". Despite that, extremely looking foward to HotS, even though I will probably mostly stick to the campaign.

Anyway, what do you mean by Micromanagment. Micromanagment is important in any online game: Total War, Company of Heroes, you name it.

You mean millions are playing the game.

No online match had ever  millions of watchers.

But  SC2 has more tournaments and more viewers per match. It´s a fact.

It´s LOL. I couldn´t care less.

Starcraft 2 has way more tournaments than LoL, combined viewer count , while LoL gets more viewers at some major events, sc2 is not much behind in them. Sc2 tournaments have paid out way more cash for players than any other game. I'd say sc2 is the biggest esport worldwide.

The word MOBA was mentioned, I can't find statistics for DoTA 2, considering its population is growing bigger by the month while not even released I expect it to increase dramatically over the next year again. But as I said, since when did e-sport determin the best game?

dont like my opnion on the matter dont read it, forums are mediums for one to exress their opinions on matters such as this brought up within the topic dont like it then its not my problem.

I just feel its a silly way for people who dont like sports to claim they are playing a sport when in reality they aint, theres no real physical exertion in playing computer games.Playing 5 a side footy down the astro is a sport something i do every saturday morning and i love it more than games nowadays tbh mind you when you get older theres bigger fish to fry than being good at computer games.

It depends how the game develops on Dota2. LoL is boring, not gonna deny that, but many Dota 2 matches can be quite entertaining.

Star Craft 2 is called E-Sport because of the amount of people it atracts and of considerable prize money at stake for the first places.

Nobody will pay you 50K for watching you drinking beer.

Splitting one game into 3. Milking!

Every installment is dedicated to one in-game faction offering more profound story and 27 single player missions dedicated to that race which is some 20+h of single palyer campaing plus infinite amount of MP joy with a new expanded MP balance at a price of 30 bucks.

Come one.Would you prefer them splitting the game into an infinite amount of 10$dlcs.

EXPANSIONS FTW. Like in old good times.

Skyrim, lol!

I mean in the same genre. And Skyrim doesn´t have a competitive balanced multiplayer.

[QUOTE="ShadowriverUB"]Rts give birth to esport? Somebody forgeting about quake which was on before RTS could even spell "multiplayer"jhonMalcovich

Starcraft became a national corean sport. I never heard Quake having become anyone´s national sport.

Because back then Internet was underdeveloped and it was mostly LAN parties, but Quake is first game that produced pro compative gaming whith huge price money, where do you think term "Fatal1ty" that you can see in some products come from? :p

Now you're moving the goal posts.  You just sound like you're upset that you don't have 8gb of GDDR5, so you need to justify your PC with lol exclusives

Seriously, Lostrib... I have thought you were smarter.

PS. I put provocative titles to attract more viewers ;) This is how SW works.

[QUOTE="razgriz_101"]

calling starcraft let alone video games a sport is laughable, im gonna declare drinking as a sport just cause so many people in my country do it.

razgriz_101

Oh not this crap again, nobody cares what you sports **** think a word should be use for. it is what it is. and e-sport has "stuck" for competitive gaming.

dont like my opnion on the matter dont read it, forums are mediums for one to exress their opinions on matters such as this brought up within the topic dont like it then its not my problem.

What does age have to do with anything? kicking a ball into a net on a saturday isn't exactly creative either.
