I just saw a video on gamtrailers about CryEngine 2 and now can be licenced from others companies that are interested to work with that engine.

Also there is well known Unreal Engine 3

And Havok 4.5(used in Motorstorm) released January 07.

This 3 engines are well known to me and seems to be powerfull. Do you know of any other powerfull engine? Maybe White Engine? Also what do you expect of CryEngine2? Can it get more popular that Unreal 3 engine?

Source Engine......Easily the best Engine of them all. Amazing Physics, and top of the line Mod Support, great graphics, and can be scaled back very far.

Half Life 2, and all its mods.....As well as a few other smaller games. Look up "garry's Mod" if you want to see what this engine is capable of.

Theres lots of game engines out there that can be licensed by companies but most games tend to make their own because most engines tend to have some kind of limitation not making them suitable or too difficult to modify for the needs of the game.

Theres the Source engine that powers Half-Life 2 and Dark Messiah. The Doom 3 engine that powered Quake 4 and Prey. The engine powered in Project Offset.

But....its a very bland and dry subject. Discussing the strengths and weaknesses of each is pointless since every game using one of these engines tend to be modified so much that theres usually not much of a semblance once the game is done.

BTW, Havok isnt a game engine. Its a physics engine that can be attached to game engines.

Will any developers license Cryengine 2?

I know 1 company has for some mmo game, but most developers who aren't making their own engines seem to go with Unreal Engine 3 over everything else.

Be interesting to see if Cryengine 2 actually gets used by anyone other than Crytek.

I wish a GTA is made using Cry Engine 2. It also produces big environments with lots of stuff happening on the screen, so GTA should be able to get Crysis level Graphics.

If the statements are true, I definitely want to see Lineage 3 running on the unreal engine 3.

From what I hear, its an extreamly expensive engine. Though according to Crytek, its much easier to make high quality games and maps, which makes up for the initial cost.

Havok is a physics engine, not a game engine.
