PC Gamer article.

Original source at TVNZ/One News.

Key line here:

"Alyx was great. To be back doing singleplayer games, that created a lot of momentum inside the company to do more of that."

So yeah, more Valve games incoming, at least some of them single-player. Good news, though I suspect some of them will be VR.

I thought VR is still like 1% the gaming population on steam or something.

Remember some SW dudes attacked me for having widescreen monitor and its only like 4% on steam.

Look in the mirror vr guys you are even lower than my widescreen monitor i should get more support in games than you guys.

Ok What is VR machine % on steam? I bet more people have a widescreen monitor than a vr head set for 800 dollars where do these dolts come from.

The Valve game I would most like to see would be Left 4 Dead 3.

That might depend on how well Back 4 Blood does. That said, I wouldn't discount it, seeing it's a fairly popular genre.

This article said VR users show the latest figures from March show that 1.29% of Steam users had connected VR headsets to their PCs over the course of the collection period.

Now lets look at Widescreen monitor users 3440x1440p is 1% and 2560x1080 is 1% both widescreen resolutions so thats 2% thats bigger than 1.29%

So what did you bet again Fedor?

1.29% is not that far off from the 1% I said...do these people even try anymore or just make themselves look like idiots?

You can leave now. /shoo

Most of the people who talk shit about VR, haven't actually used it with some bizarre internal bias they aren't intent on any objectivity actively hoping for it to fail.

People like Jim Sterling I can understand, dude probably has trouble sitting on the toilet without it screaming.

That's more his deficiency as a mediocre human-being.

If they start making more VR games I can already see certain folks complaining that they it is unfair that their games are locked behind hardware and that these games shouldn't receive game of the year. 😂

Yet you said it was fine for microsoft not to support widescreen resolutions on xb1 and x-series x because of the lower user base and not a priority.

Locking people out of using their hardware doesn't seem right to me either as well as down playing games locked behind certain hardware.

Stand by what you preach please just be genuine thats all I ask for on system wars.

Dude I call out shills, ungenuine, dishonest, fakes, and hypocrits that's my job on system wars.

People can change there opinion like i went from sony to nintendo an stuff like that if things are getting better somewhere else.

But you have stand true to that you don't say well I hate ps4 indies but i love xbox one indies you know what i mean thats a contradiction.

YOu can't say Oh widescreen monitors are only 2% of the market and then whine that a vr version didn't get made cuz thats 1%. You know what i mean it just doesn't make any sense.

Going from sony to nintendo because Nintendo is the only one making tons of great games like bowsers fury an stuff that just flat out makes sense and everyone would do that.

You on the other don't make sense and are a hypocrit.

That Fedor guy (steam valve VR fanboy) just straight up disappeared when I brought the percentages on vr head sets compared to Widescreen monitor usage on steam on here. I dunno where he went. Who knows.

I hope its non VR Half life 3.

If its non VR Half life 3 then 2021 is year of dreams (STALKER2/Half life 3).

It won't be HL3 or L4D3 as we know Valve can't count up to 3, which is funny as i wonder who they got to help them figure out how to pay the 3 million dollars for the fine they got LOL.

VR is great, people who haven’t actually tried it properly and dismiss it need to realise it is here to stay and has a growing market.

They're a minority. Most people think VR is cool as hell. Since it is.

But yeah, there's a few morons here acting like VR assaulted their mother. Ignoring them is recommended.

By the time they release whatever they are releasing Epic/China will own PC digital distribution and that'll be the end of Winnie the Poo games on PC. This is Valve's market to lose and they seem keen on losing it.

VR is very interesting, but I am not sure it's going to have the same pull for everyone. For instance, I only tried it once in a store that had it as pay per use, it was basically an arcade for VR. To be honest i really enjoyed it and i totally see myself going there many times in the future.

About owning one and playing things at home, I just dont care. I can easily afford it and the games, but I dont really see myself spending weekly a long time with a screen attached to my face and isolated from the rest of the world. Also the thing that I enjoyed the most about the VR arcade was going with my friends, playing together and eating afterwards together. I would need to buy several VR systems for that and go through a complicated installationg and I jsut dont want to do that.

lol, what?

I do plan to get into VR. Not sure when though. "Near future" for me is like 1-2 years, and I doubt I'll own a headset by then. They're still a bit expensive and bulky, and the VR library could be better.

I also think spaceships are cool as hell, even though I have no plans to own one in the near future.

Valve have multiple games in development as according to Gabe. so make one traditional game and other VR game. problem solved.

Half life 3 as Gordon Journey need to be tradition game. any other spinoff starting other character could be VR. HL3 if it become reality announcement would melt the entire internet.

I wonder if they are afraid of releasing HL3. I mean, think about it. It would be such an anticipated and hyped release no matter what it was, how could anything do it justice? What could they make that would actually live up to expectations?

@eoten:

I don't think they're so much "afraid" as "wondering what the Hell they're gonna showcase this time." As Valve have explicitly stated, Half-Life games are first and foremost technological showcases.

I think they've managed expectations well with Alyx. I don't think it will be hard for them to manage HL3. Again, they just gotta find something to show first.

Is valve insane? They made a game for 1% of there steam platform that use VR headsets instead of 100%. Now they are saying don't worry guys were making a real one this time. Plus they made that card game that died. WTF is going on over there?

Couldn't they make more money if they make real big hitting games than this trash? I know there making money off other games but wtf wouldn't you want to make more?
