THE FF devs said they had to shrink and save space for the games which isn't a good sign for a game. The game FFX remastered was 50GB so how would that fit on 32gb cart it wouldn't the devs had to go in and shrink it which could cause problems like Ark Survival Evolve had for the switch who also said the space wasn't enough.

Your carts are too small they don't have enough space for 10 year old games like FFX. This is not right. Its wrong. Play FF on playstation or get a vita or something.

They should do a subsequent download, considering the space on the Switch, along with the ability for an SD card expansion. Weren't the 64gb cards delayed in 2017? When are they rolling out?

I already have the remasters on PC... No need to bother with the PS for me :)

64 GB were delayed, but will release sometimes this year. But hey, the 32 GB are now in mass production at a reasonable price, which should fit games more than downloading half the games.

I know. The cards were delayed a couple years ago, but I couldn't see anything recently... I could just be stupid lol. If the game is too big for Switch carts, then downloading is fine, but Ninty need to release higher memory cartridges.

File sizes aren't always the same when consoles use different file types. PS3 files used to always take about twice the size as the 360's for the same game.

If only developers could compress assets so that 15 year old games were not 50GB because of "TEH UNCOMPRESSED AUDIO 4K WE ARE TOO LAZY TO COMPRESS" qualty.

Developers take the piss. Years ago there use to be time and money spent in compressing games down while maintaining the quality. FFX etc shouldn't be more than 10GB there is no justifiable reason.

Yet hey, lets bash the Switch for developers putting thier compression effort/cost TO THE CONSUMORS, because the PC/PS4/XBOX users bow down and take it up the arse because "50GB is nothign these days" really...

@x_karen_x: Exactly. 50 GB is ridiculous for what was originally a 5 GB game. It's like Squenix didn't even bother using any compression, but left everything uncompressed. Just some compression is all it takes to bring it back down to 30 GB.

SE sure knows nothing about Data compression. How is Zelda BOTW 14.5 gigs, but old Final Fantasy games need more than 32 gigs?

Weird. Most Final Fantasy games are kind of horrible (exceptions are 4,6, 9 and 12), but you would think you could fit the entire series on 32 gigs at this point (besides 15 or course.)

@npiet1: What they are talking about is the actual game cartridges the games come on, not microSD cards.

From the Nintendo Switch page on Wikipedia:

That's not the point. There essentially a SD card. So why is it so hard for Nintendo to release a 64gb card?

Really? The game is actually a 37GB download, NOT 50GB as I do have it off steam on my PC. You can't tell me it's that difficult to compress portions of the game to fit on a cart. Sounds like the talk of a lazy dev to me....
