It was never announced as an exclusive. It was announced that it would first show up on PS4, but it was never going to ONLY be on PS4.

Wish they stopped showing things so early. People claiming Sony is showing all the games at E3, meanwhile half of them are years away.

@LustForSoul: I actually prefer knowing what is in the works. If it's years out then oh well. I'm pretty patient even if most aren't. That's why I don't mind if games are announced 2-3 years in advance.

I'm trying to get used to Nintendo not announcing anything as there is very little on the NS I'm currently looking forward too. If they had stuff announced, I would probably be looking forward to more than Mario Oddysee.

Unfortunately, talent doesn't always sell. Squenix made a loss on the last Hitman, whereas FFXV made them a lot of profit.

The best Final Fantasy ever made needs to be the best remake ever made too. I can wait 20 years if necessary. I'll still be young by then.

I'd bet it will release around the mid cycle of the PS5 at the earliest and be a garbage game with some of the greatest production values ever. That is, unless it drags so long that what we consider great now, will be a bit underwhelming by the time it drops.

It's hard for me to get excited for this game with the talk that they might split it into two games and the fact that it supposedly isn't turned based like the actual game it represents.... if it isn't turn based wait or active I could truly care less. I want to be pumped for this game, but it has already had its fair share of rocky times and changing the formula WAY too much. I hope that one of these days they come to their senses and realize that FF is was it is, and built the fan base it did because of the great old turn based games with a great story. Not this emo man crush weird ass shit they have been pumping out the last few iterations. People like me still buy into the hype, and unfortunately buy the games just HOPING they wont suck... and they have since 10.

Anyways... long story short, if this game is more of a hack and slash game, I wont be purchasing it either way. Now, if it has an option to play the legitimate way that actual fans actually want? Yeah, count me in. I will support that. We need more turn based RPG's. The only reason kids these days think those games suck is because they are so rare and when one DOES sneak through the cracks it is usually some barely heard of indie that was never meant to compare with the graphical fidelity or budget these metrosexual, bore fest, pieces of crap are afforded.

@Shewgenja: should be it has a Q2 release scheduled. I played it at more than one event not really sure what the hold up is the game seemed mostly finished unless they are working more levels.

Below on the other hand is taking a really long time and I dunno if it's because they revamped it from being procedural to having a story or what. It was actually one of the games I liked the most at E3 last year I'd like to see that one sooner than later.

Yeah it sucks, but having the lowest hopes when it comes to FF these days seems to be the safest bet. Last game I enjoyed with the FF name slapped on it was FF12, and even that was a bit rough in spots. I hear FF14 is legit, but I don't do MMOs.

I just can't bring myself to care anymore, I even skipped FFXV, which is the first main sp FF I've skipped since the beginning.

I think they missed the boat with FFVII remake. This shit should've happened last gen when the hype was at an all time high. And it should've just been a straight up remake, fix the bugs, tighten up some of the systems, but otherwise just deliver FFVII with a major face lift that adheres to the original concept art, not this awkward semi realistic art style. It should play, look, and feel like FFVII, just better in every way. Even revamp the battle system if they want, it could use some work, but still keep it classic ATB.

I would take a solid FF7/8/9 remake (nothing crazy, but all reworked in original style) over what we got with FFXV. XV was decent, but nothing compared to past titles.

I'm patient as well, they can take all the time they need. It just sucks when they keep dropping trailers and news in that time-frame.

Drop a CGI trailer and shut up until close to release. They showed For Honor in two E3's and kept advertising it 8 months after that. My hype died cause I'd seen too much and got sick of hearing about it.

Seriously. I've had friends do teaching for a year, but that guy went wholehog and got what he wanted.

With an ever growing aging population in Japan. I would imagine finding developers may be challenging.

I don't mind the wait to be honest. FF7 is a game that's so far off my mind. But I guess for those that have been waiting years for a remake. Being able to do other things in the meantime may be difficult.

Why can't they just make a suped up remaster with a current 3d engine/graphics, but with an identical/same gameplay as before. I'm sure this will be a lot less resource intensive.

They thought they could milk it by going episodic, but that ended up backfiring, damaging the IP.
