At first I thought it was some FF MMORPGOPRP, not the most impressive title for sure.

@hardwenzen: FFVII:R had some pretty bad parts. PS1 backdrops, PS2 textures some places and PS3 NPCs, but other parts of FFVII:R were frankly mind blowing and some of the best console graphics ever.
FFXV Just looks bad IMO.
This is the first FF game that i am interested in playing and will most likely buy. For once, it doesn't look girly. If there's a Vanille 2.0, i am skipping the shit out of this game, tho.
Gameplay looked incredible. My body is ready.
Same, I'm actually hyped for a dark version of a FF game
The characters look so plastic. These anime art styles would look better cel-shaded or stylized. Photorealism makes them look shittier.
What "anime art style"? The art style in FFXVI looks more Westernized, if anything. While some characters appear to have J-pop or K-pop looking hairstyles, the actual faces have realistic-looking proportions, not anime proportions. The only anime influence I see is Berserk, but I don't think that's the kind of anime you're talking about.

The stupid spiky hair and skinny, clean Barbie faces.
Just another case like the announcement of Shenmue 3 where the bovine brigade got way out ahead of themselves and got royally owned in the end.
Will they ever learn? lol :P
@Jag85:
Firstly, back in the day I used to be a die hard SEGA and Shenmue fan but eh, Shenmue 3 was a dud, Yu, pretty much just phoned it in.
Secondly, ya know me, I just gotta mess the the crazy mostly unhinged cows around here. lol :P

We were talking about the possible Berserk inspiration in my FF14 crafting linkshell.
Glad to see we were not the only ones who thought of it.
Is it possible that the 9.2tflop system is holding the game back? Very weak system so its very possible.
@hardwenzen: Hey, the remake in general looked better than that screenshot, and what we saw of 16 imo.
Lighting and textures are far far behind Demon's
@sakaixx: It definitely has more advanced graphics than XIII, but I have to agree that XIII had better art direction. Same with XV, that was technically advanced but also kinda bland. People can say whatever else they want to about XIII, but it was stunning.
I'm honestly thinking the reason it looks this way is because SE is putting more time and resources into FF7 Remake. It's been their most hyped game for years, so I can see why. Unless they work something out, I don't see this game looking much better when it releases due to FF7 Remake part 2 being in development right now.
The graphics look somewhat better than FF15, and about on-par with FF7R, but rendered at a higher 4K resolution. It looks more like an upscaled PS4 game, rather than a next-gen PS5 game. I think it may have originally been intended for the PS4.
But the gameplay looks more promising. The veteran Capcom game designer Ryota Suzuki (Devil May Cry V, Dragon's Dogma, Marvel vs Capcom) joined Square Enix a couple of months ago. And FF16's combat is already starting to resemble Devil May Cry. It could very well end up having the best action combat in the series.
As for the story, and overall look and feel, it reminds me a lot of FF14, along with FF4 and FF12 vibes, and influences from Berserk and Dragon's Dogma. It also looks rather dark for a mainline FF game. But I don't know about the medieval setting. I'd much rather prefer a sci-fi setting.
O can see that. If they can upgrade the character models to be like those in FF7 Remake, and upgrade the textures an quality, this game will be amazing. But they likely won't do that with FF7 Remake part 2 in development, and SE is likely to focus more on that.
Most likely was intended for the Ps4 but took too long like Versus 13/ XV. I have to admit I would have like a turn based combat more than an action one, but it is what it is. There are so many action rpg/jrpg this gen already.
I generally think the graphics looked great, it was just lower resolution though. Don’t worry, it is likely in early development and will get better. Ifrit and Phoenix looked awesome.
edit: I cannot wait for both FF7R and FF16, but I want FF7R more.
It looks OK but, yeah, it doesn't exactly scream next-gen to me. I guess that could change between now and launch.
I don't get why people are saying it looks awesome.
That didn't look that epic to me look at these 2 trailers compared to it.
bad games but good trailers...this ff16 trailer looks worse than both of these tho so what are we so hyped for?
Switch games look better than it. If it was a Xbox exclusive cows would be making memes to this day.
I think Final Fantasy 16 looks like crap. But on the bight side, I am very excited about the way Bravely Default 2 looks so at least I have that! I just love the hand drawn look in games.
It feels like Square-Enix is like 2 companies. One is the trash that most people play like crap Final Fantasy Games that used to be amazing and have just gotten worse every time (I loved Final Fantasy 4,6,9,11 and 12 but that is about it), then there is a different side of the company that makes amazing games like Bravely Default, and Octopath Traveler, or the Dragon Quest Series.
Oh well. As long as I can still get games like this, you can all have your crap Final Fantasy!
Is SE still using the Luminous Engine for FF16 like they did with the previous title?
Looks like it's running on the FFXIV engine, which is apparently related to the Luminous Engine.
Graphics aside, the FFXIV Shadowbringer writers and Devil May Cry gameplay designer looks like a winning combination, with the potential to be among the best FF games. The music also sounds really good, as expected from FF.
