Final Fantasy 15's very last DLC episode gets a release date

Final Fantasy is a video game.

Some people say it is really good. Some people say it is really bad. It had DLC that made it better. And had more DLC planned to make it more betterer. But it was stopped and only some of the dlc to make it betterer is coming. This is the last piece of dlc.

Final Fantasy 15's final DLC expansion, Episode Ardyn, will release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on March 26th.

Previous Final Fantasy 15 DLC episodes - that is, Episode Gladiolus, Episode Ignis, and Episode Prompto - have focussed individual character's from the game's core entourage. Episode Ardyn, however, casts its net wider, telling the story of the Niflheim Empire's Chancellor Ardyn Izunia.

According to Square Enix, events of the DLC unfold 35 years prior to the main game, when Verstael Besithia, a Niflheim researcher, releases Ardyn Lucis Caelum from 2,000 years of imprisonment. "Led to the Imperial research facility," explains Square, "Ardyn discovers a certain truth and decides to take revenge upon the Kingdom of Lucis."

Ardyn's quest to infiltrate and destroy Insomnia's Crown City will see the return of some familiar faces, albeit much younger in years, and introduces a number of new mechanics. Ardyn can, for instance, deploy Shadow Move to zip around at high speed, or deploy his Daemonification ability to transform enemies into daemons, rendering them powerless.

Episode Ardyn was originally announced to be the fourth of seven DLC episodes coming to Final Fantasy 15, with the remaining episodes planned to focus on Aranea, Luna and main protagonist Noctis. However, when Hajime Tabata announced his departure from Square Enix at the end of 2018, the publisher made the decision to cancel all instalments after Ardyn.

At the time of the announcement, Square revealed that Episode Ardyn would be accompanied by a "short form anime" focussing on the character. True to its word, this 13-minute prologue is now available, and embedded above. Those with limited time can skip ahead for a brief trailer of gameplay from Final Fantasy 15's concluding DLC episode.

Kind of lost interest in FFXV a long time ago. I bought Episode Ignis but I never even played it. Ardyn is far more interesting, though. I may have to check this out.

The trailer for it looked very cool and I did enjoy Final Fantasy XV so I’ll probably get this dlc.

DLC bugs me. When I'm done with a game I don't want to go back to it months later.

I'm holding off until this DLC is released.

Have pocket version for switch, might play that first, but it could ruin the incredible anime plot.

This game sucked. Got to around chapter 6 or 7 and had no interest to keep playing. Trash story, trash characters, pointless on-rails car rides. The combat was ok.

Hahah I know. They did the video game look so well it's a bit creepy. I guess some of it is probably post-processing on the photo.

Glad they finally going to give that poor excuse of a FF a rest. Hopefully FF XVI can be good, but the recent track record has been less than stellar.

Good. I have been patiently waiting for them to “finish” the damn game already. Once all the DLC is released, I will buy the FF15 Complete Edition later this year/early next year.

I have zero interest in Boyband Fantasy XV myself and just wish Square would go back to making actual Final Fantasy games with medieval/steampunk styles.

Good game. Took to long to release this whole mess, which it still is.

I thought it was alright, but yeah the car rides and pacing of the game were hella annoying. I only dabbled in some the post-game (non DLC) and I remember thinking that immediately some of those battles were better than anything in the game. Made no sense really.

I heard one of the patches actually made the game more open world? So maybe it wasn't so bad if you played it later on.

@blackthundajaw: They're not done with FFXV just yet. There's still the mobile spinoff FFXV New Empire, which is raking in tons of cash. FFXV could end up being the most profitable FF of all time at this rate.

Way better than a movie game tho.

One of the worst RPGs I have ever played (and I have played ALOT of RPGs).

This is where having incredibly low standards pays off.
