Favorite FPS this gen. (mine is KZ2)

This is solely my opinion, I am not stating it as "fact"

The reason why KZ2 is the best FPS this gen imo, is because it has taken all of the mechanics that have made other fps's so good, and put them together in an intense fps. Not only that, but they have made the game's gameplay feel so much more realistic than other fps's. I actually like the controls/movement, because it is actually feels like you have a real gun in your hand.

Also, KZ2 has the best FPS physics I have ever seen in a FPS and it has the best kill animations too.

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Killzone 2. Amazing atmosphere, graphics, gameplay and online.

Left 4 Dead. I'm big on co-op play, and no game does it better.

STALKER: SoC, although calling it an FPS is a bit of a stretch (more "action/adventure with guns" than shooter).

Killzone 2 is numero uno. - weapons , AI , cover system , atmosphere , controls , multiplayer , graphics , etc.

Sure you will. Garbage computers in 5 years will be able to run it no sweat. Just like on my lame laptop, I can run Half Life 2.

Halo 3

* satisfying campaign (not the best ever, but still satisfying)
* FOUR player campaign co-op
* balanced weapon diversity
* lots of varied game modes
* great customization in maps and game modes
* theatre mode for video sharing
* lots of community contribution
* continuous developer support

Oh yeah... let the hate begin :)

I also gotta give props to Bioshock for its deeply immersive SP experience.

Can't choose between the following: -Modern Warfare -Halo 3 Its disturbing and sad that some people are listing STALKER and BioShock as their favourite "FPS's"... they are more ShooterRPG's than anything dumping them into one genre would be a slap in a face to the developers who worked hard to push this genre into the limelight.Too_tight_shoes

Damn straight. Why should GSC Gameworld get all the glory for being "innovative" and "creative"? It isn't fair to developers that haven't had a new idea since 2001 like Bungie and IW!

Not at all. To me the gameplay is varied and random enough to keep playing. I don't care about story and character development in a game like this. I have over 400 hours put into the game (if you want proof, my Steam ID is Mrcod). Frankly, it's the most fun I've ever had with a shooter.

Call of Duty 4. Really fun multiplayer with great customisation and perks. Halo 3 and Killzone 2 tie for my second place.

1) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

2) Halo 3 would be second or tied with first, though it would be an amazing contender for first place if I actually owned it and didn't played it whenever I go to my friend's house

3) Killzone 2 would be my 3rd favorite/2nd favorite depending on how you look at the above situation

Sure, if you strip it down to its core then it sounds painfully simple. But there's a lot of teamwork required, especially in versus mode. All I'll say is that Left 4 Dead is far greater than the sum of its parts. And I've played every shooter listed in this thread.

I'd say TF2, or R:fom or Bioshock(whatever about rpg elements)
