to its origininality?....meaning one and two. Two was kind of silly...but not as bad as 3 and 4. I started playing the first one and though its not better than gta....I thought it was legit comp, especially if they stuck with that formula.

Saints Row 3 was the best Saints Row IMO, perfect balance of comedy and being outrageous before the shit that went down in Saints Row 4.

Yeah agreed... SR3 is easily my favourite in the series. I enjoyed SR4, but it was a bit too stupid (should've been a DLC like it was originally supposed to be).

1 and 2 suck. 3 and 4 was where it was at.

If anything they should do zero Saints Row games going forward, and do a new ip though. Saints Row 4 was actually a pretty good finish to that franchises ridiculousness.

I really enjoyed 4, but they should definitely go back to having a vehicle focus like in 3.

Meanwhile...I thought this thread was going to say "back in time". Which they should totally do for the next game.

Saints Row 3 was the best. Two was fucking garbage. 3 finally set the series apart and made it more than just another gta clone.

I honestly don't know where they go. While I loved 4 it seems like the series may be out of ideas. Idk how you can go back to driving cars.

Ditto on The Third being the best in the series. Although, Saints 2 local co-op with 2 360s was some of the most fun I had last gen.

As long as its not like 3, I'm fine. 1, 2, and 4 are all pretty great. 1 is by far the best. It's hard to apply difficulty to an open world game, but SR1 nailed it. The game is one of the best of last gen.

No. Couldn't continue playing the first Saints Row, since it's so damn outdated. Saints Row 2 is cool. Saints Row 3 is too, but Saints Row 4 is what I want my Saints Row games to be.

Fucking stupid, over the top, unexplainable bullshit, that still does character relationships better than Mass Effect.

Saints Row 3 was the best in the series, but I wouldn't mind them going back to the seriousness of the first one. Never happening though.

No I say stick with the silliness. Volition has found their own style in the open world genre and I say they stick with it. However, they really need to step up their game after SR4. SR4 was fun overall, but boring in a lot of areas and of course reused the city from the last game. They also killed off a lot of characters for no reason.

I've only played 3, but I loved it. I wouldn't mind seeing a game in a similar vein.

Same here, 4 and Gat seemed a bit too wacky for my tastes, but seeing as how fun 3 was might give them a try during the next free weekend. Great idea that, would never have bought 3 otherwise.

Same here. Never really liked SR4 superpowers and SR2 on pc was a s***y port so never really got into it but SR3 is by far my favorite in the series

Saint's Row 2 is the best in the series, and frankly one of the best open world games I've ever played.

Saint's Row 2 had a 'pretty' serious tone esp. compared to the latter Saint's Rows, but the stuff you could do in the game was so ridiculous and funny.

While Saint's Row 3 had a ridiculous and funny tone but I found the stuff you could do in the game pretty dull. I was shooting Helicopters and driving tanks in the first minutes of the game and it just didn't feel as great as in Saint's Row 2 or other Open World games.

1 and 2 were the best IMO so yes I would like it to go back to those games style wise.

I'm not really understanding the hate for SR4, it was awesome. It was absolutely ridiculous in a good self aware way. While SR 1 and 2 were trying way too hard to be competition to GTA and failing horribly, SR 3 and 4 succeeded because they said "**** it, we are just going to have fun with all this". The games are actually funny. SR 4 is also one of the better superhero games out currently.

3 was GREAT. I loved it. Lot's of fun, good looks and performance, funny as hell to play through (the singing treach guy made me laugh so hard...can't remember his name. You know...the cool gimp).

4 was ok. It was super funny, and fun, but maybe too much insanity for my tastes.

3rd was fun and silly but the 4th seemed like a giant step backwards....they must have been confused by Microsoft's jump from 360 to 1 when they were developing the game

Yep, never got the appeal of Saints Row 2

"go do this bullshit side quest 5 times, before you enough "street cred" to do the mission you actually want to do". Game was a fucking chore dressed up as entertainment.

Do I want it to be less original and go back to being a GTA-copycat? No.

Yes for the love of god, the first two were literally my favorite 360 games. I dropped the series after the third.

@funsohng: It was never a GTA clone. The second game was like anything I had neveer played. The first game had some of the best polish and detail that I saw last gen. The second game was polished but also had an extreme level of freedom. 3 & 4 are strung together rag doll fests. NPCs dont exist and you can kill them in one hit, your cooperative AI is useless, and the destruction is mediocre.
