It's doomed if the general flow of 3rd party developer is away from PS3 and towards the other platform. No two games are going to be able to kill or save the PS3.
If the PS3 loses MGS4 and FFXIII, I won't be buying a PS3 for a looong time. And to answer your question, I don't think they'd be doomed. But they'd be in bad shape.

Totally agree I wont purchase the system til I know Im getting my moneys worth.
if mgs 4 jumps to 360 i never have to buy a PS3. sad as i did enjoy the ps2. cant believe somebody finally beat sony. and no note ms and nintendo. but sony is beating itself.
pretty much yes, those are the only ones I'm looking forward in the PS3, still i wont pay that much money to play just 2 games, so Sony need to do some more great exclusives if it want to stay alive
oooohhhh yeah, that'd be ballgame. Those two games are the PS3s two biggest games. Bigger than any first-party titles they even have (maybe not God of War 3, but only god himself knows when that'll come out)
I pretty well thought that the PS3 didn't have a good chance after seeing the price tag. And knowing the components they are using, they are not in any good shape to lower the price anytime soon.
Then finding out more about their online, even with "Home", their online service is rather dissmal.
And after hearing about the great hype of the hardware, and now seeing it in action with all the framerate issues and disappointing graphics, not looking so good. It's like being promised a Porsche, and getting a Honda.
