Do you think PS5 will have the edge next gen with PS4 BC, PSVR 2, and first party?

It seems like the PS5, unless Sony somehow screws it up, will be a beast next gen. I think PS4 BC is a no brainer and would be a huge mistake if they didn't include it. Then there's Sony's stake in VR which they are already doing a pretty decent job with. There's already a decent library for it. With the PS5, it will be even better. Then there's Sony's first party which has been great this gen and will most likely continue kicking ass.

So what do you think, SW? Do you think PS5 will have the edge next gen with PS4 BC, PSVR 2, and first party?

@MonsieurX: its something everyone wants but nobody uses it. At least from sony and nintendo point of view, they used to be the master of bc. Other than current ps4 and switch, ps2/wii onwards and psp/vita/3ds all have some kind of bc so nintendo and sony probably have statistics. And they are douche that wants yo money.

@MonsieurX: It wasn't as important as it will be next gen. Almost all my games are digital and I want to bring them over when I get a ps5. Not sure I'll even play them much, but I also don't want to lose them.

I could care less about BC and as soon as the ps5 get it,that would be the moment were it would not matter anymore just like no lemming cared about the more than 7,000 BC games that were on ps3 on day 1.

You know things are bad when a thread solely about the PS5 is invaded with a comment about gamers that play on another system. LOL.

BC is a great thing and it should be standard on all systems.

PS4 BC makes sense because we are transitioning to a new generation. Other than that, I don't care about BC beyond that. That has a very limited appeal to me. I care about current games.

Couldn't careless about BC and I keep my old ass consoles for 100% BC. Despite Sony went all SJW, I'll still buy PS5 assuming they have interesting exclusives I give a damn about but otherwise, my gaming PC will pave the way for years to come.

There is an interesting thought that I feel needs to be put forth, and that's if Sony release the PSVR2 within a year of releasing the PS5 it will sink faster than the titanic. Who in the right mind would shell out for a new PS5 + PSVR2 at launch or near after?

@MonsieurX: The PS4 is killing it right now, still lots of games coming out for it.if Sony wants people to make the switch to PS5, PS4 BC should be included. When it came to ps3 to ps4, people were so eager for next gen that the jump to PS4 was much easier.

One would think so. BC is not a main selling point, but it is a nice feature as long as you have new exclusives to back it up. One thing that BC is important for, however, is PSVR, as all PSVR games from this gen will get a huge bump in resolution and such with the PS5. In general, though, PSVR is really going to do well with the PS5, because it is totally powered by the console itself, so the power of the PS5 will ensure high-def new games on the PSVR, regardless of when the PSVR2 comes out. This fact is really important, as devs will be able to do bigger, more complex PSVR games right at the start of the gen, if not before, without having to wait for PSVR2. And then there's the experience that Sony has in the VR field at this point, not to mention the fanbase they've built, which places them in a great position to build on that success heading into next gen. So, yeah, the PSVR (plus BC with VR and non-VR games), gives Sony a big edge. Other than that, FIRST PARTY is absolutely important, as always (duh).

Gaming is gaming some day when you stop worshiping what ever crap ms does you will understand that my ps4 doesn't stop working as soon as the ps5 comes out,and that in deed new gens are about new games not old ones.

Sony already has the advantage, because Playstation is Playstation.
