Poll Do you expect PS5 and Xbox Scarlett to launch in the same month? (21 votes)

Yes 48%
No 52%

If so, would you consider getting both? Or are you dead set on just one? Or are you not getting anything at launch at all? It would definitely be tough to get both.. Those are two major purchases. I would go with PS5 over Scarlett right off the bat, but would consider Scarlett down the road. What about you, SW?

I wouldnt be surprised if Microsoft holds back. Aware that a console generation is 8 years and that people are hellbent on resolutions, its possible they may wait out 6 months to a year, let sony deal with that initial game draught, and then release a much higher spec console.

Seems like both are aiming for Holiday 2020 launch from the looks of it, but both PS4/Xbox One did launch the same month from 1 week each other and if history has shown us is, both Sony/MS learned their lessons to never let another console have a full year run and so with that, they want to match as close to each other as possible.

Yeah I think that they’ll launch very close to each other and could very likely be within the same month, probably November. I’m going to get Scarlett first and get the PS5 later on.

MS will release before Sony in Europe. No clue if same week or month.

@mclarenmaster18: Yeah Halo: Infinite and Forza Motorsport 8 are definitely two launch games I’d get for Scarlett and there will no doubt be some third party titles that I’ll want as well.

I’m not interested in Gran Turismo myself but there will certainly be some other first party games that I’ll want to play eventually on the PS5.

It doesn't work that way. Both MS and Sony have the hardware 95% locked down at this point, you can't just go in and add 10 more CU's and 4 more CPU cores on a whim. The only thing you can do late in development is add more ram and boost clockspeeds slightly.

@nfamouslegend:

Are they? Show me where, show me the release dates, and show me production numbers. Neither console has even been properly shown and these are products that aim to sell 100 million units, so even if 500,000 units is thrown out the window to feasibly gain marketshare, it still makes sense.

Nope. Just because it happened this gen doesn't mean it'll happen again.
